Now that Nicklas Lidstrom has retired, what are the chances of having him stop by for a day of traning camp to give a few D tips. It would be a thrill for the guys and they would likely learn some things. Just a thought.

Did he and Yzerman have a falling out or something? They were teammates and friends for 15 years, won 3 cups together, that seems unlikely.

No, there wasn't a falling out and they're still very good friends. I say there's a 0% chance because he has already moved his family back to Sweden where he will be a scout for the Red Wings.

No, but he is still employed by the Red Wings (European scout, or something like that). Even if he wanted to fly all the way over to Florida, despite just recently retiring from hockey, I doubt Detroit would look too kindly on him helping out a competitor.

While I think it would be cool if it happened, it wouldn't for certain help all that much. Sometimes experts at a certain skill have difficulty explaining why they are so good at something, it's actually a somewhat common phenomenon*. I'm sure if anybody could benefit from his knowledge it would be other NHL dmen though.

*Here is an article about said phenomenon. I only skimmed through it, so I'm not sure how good it is, but from what I read it explains the gist of it. I read a good article on this a while back, but I couldn't find it through a quick google search.

Hey guys I was wondering what your thoughts on Bruno Gervais are. I realize he's a 5th/6th defenseman but is he pretty solid for what he is?

Now Gillis gets his say. He will be one of the five general managers -- alongside Pittsburgh's Ray Shero, New Jersey's Lou Lamoriello, Buffalo's Darcy Regier and Tampa's Steve Yzerman -- gather in Toronto Tuesday to talk state of the game with the NHL's Director of Hockey Operations Colin Campbell. (...)

"This won't be as difficult," said Campbell, who is simply trying to address the many complaints he hears about slippage in the standard of officiating.

"We said, have your video guys send in the clips. Are we talking interference, and what part of interference are we talking about? We have to be really specific about this, and we're not going to make any changes in last two weeks of the season or in the playoffs. We'll do it in the summertime.

"Interference, hooking, holding... What needs to be adjusted, if anything?" (...)

Predators head coach Barry Trotz, Phoenix's Dave Tippett, Boston's Claude Julien, Chicago's Joel Quenneville and new Washington head coach Adam Oates will be in attendance, as well as several NHL players Campbell chose not to name.

Referees Steve Walkom, Brad Watson and Wes McCauley will be there to lend an official's perspective during the meetings, which will run from noon-5 pm on Tuesday and breakfast until around lunchtime Wednesday.

Years ago, football players used to spray their jerseys with Pam cooking spray. It makes the jersey slippery, so the opponent can't hold. I can see why it's a no no in football, what with tackling and all, but there is no rule against it in hockey. Food for thought.

I don't think anyone would want Ovie licking their jersey as it smelt like a big mac

It'd probably just make the sweater damp, and smell odd.

Ask Wellwood's teammates, they'd probably know.

How is OWN at 9. I cannot image a more committed owner than Vinik. Somehow there are 8 better

Better owners according to them:

1. San Antonio Spurs
2. Detroit Red Wings
3. Green Bay Packers
4. Pittsburgh Steelers
5. Baltimore Ravens
6. Pittsburgh Penguins
7. Texas Rangers
8. Oklahoma City Thunder

Its not better owners per say. Its better fan kickbacks and the quality of the team basically.

For instance, one of the categories is bang for your buck in which it counts how many wins per dollar spent.
