But the good news (for the NHL) is all four of them are coming back, right? At least for now.

Uh, congrats? Hartnell is #5 BTW.
I don't think they're ranked like that. It seems to be one per team.

Phil Kessel? This list is a joke. Where's Lundqvist? AINEC

speaking of #21 Gabriel Landeskog

Kovy is still a questionmark but I think he will come back too. Ovy was already practicing with Caps, Malkin is back/on his way. Datsyuk may participate in KHL allstar game but will be back.

Donald Fehr came in first on THN's 100 powerful people list. Gary's #2, which we all pretty much knew.

I really want to see a Fehr/Bettman rap battle.

KHL has published the new, revised All Star lineups. None of the NHLers are on them. Except Ilya Kovalchuk. #NJDevils

Yes, Kovalchuk is on the All-Star lineup in the KHL. 100% confirmed #NJDevils

Ilya Kovalchuk will play KHL All Stars game in Chelyabinsk (12-13 Jan). It's official: http://www.khl.ru/news/2013/1/9/57152.html

Ilya Kovalchuk - only one player with NHL contract in this roster.

Now my bet - Kovalchuk will stay in KHL. Minimum - till the end of this season. Big war with NHL?
https://twitter.com/plysenkov

I still think he'll return after the ASG. The new CBA isn't even signed yet.

KHL Prez Medvedev to SportsDaily.ru: New CBA may be basis for terminating existing contracts, some players will stay.

NHL's opinion of itself is so high... OK, let them get drunk on their greatness. We'll see how many Euros look our way

Our league will act according to our own and international rules. If players decide to stay, we will help them.

And more Medvedev, who is winning the internet tonight: "There is no reason to fear (IIHF's sanctions against players who decide to stay)

"Some players asked their NHL teams to stay for the (KHL) All-Star Game, but were denied. The selfishness is understandable" - Medvedev

Kovalchuk's KHL all-star apperance seems to be due to the CBA not being ratified yet, as the lockout is still offically happening.

I think he'll back. As said, No CBA yet. Could get pretty ugly though.

May have something to do with the fact that Devils aren't really good team.. they can make the playoffs but that's about it imo. There's no one to replace Parise, misses #1D, and C depth is poor. Maybe.

I have a hard time buying this. He shouldn't have signed such a long deal if he wasn't sort of okay with some of those years probably being losers.

Maybe he's staying so the Devs will terminate his contract? He can then sign with them again for a more CBA compliant contract. It makes sense given the logic that Kovalchuk's contract initial contract with NJ was rejected by the league for being too egregious with it's cap circumvention. Lou isn't beyond stretching the rules.

Well that Burke tweet came out of left field!

And already some twitheads saying he quit so he could take over as comissioner when Bettman is fired. Massive silliness on twitter today.

Seems odd that the firing happens right in the midst of a Luongo to Toronto trade rumor.

Yeah, others tweet that he was fired because he ****ed up the Luongo trade...

Or is it because the USA won the WJHC?

Cue the Pierre McGuire to Toronto rumors!

How can he **** up the trade that hasn't even been made (I haven't kept up with Lou news lately)?

There's a belief on twitter that Burke didn't want Luongo and the board did, so they replaced him with the guy who traded to get Luongo to Vancouver.

Burke is a very principled guy. He'll go down in flames for them. Burke has made it public before that he doesn't at all like back-diving contracts, which is exactly what Luongo's is.

The team also has new owners in tv companies Bell and Rogers, and it's competely believable that they'd want a big star goalie.

Well, nobody knows anything (yet). People just love to speculate. Especially in Toronto. Maybe some of them thought the Leafs were close to a deal but Burke couldn't make it happen. Or he didn't want Luongo.

Paul Ranger has 18 points, 5 goals in 29 AHL games the for Toronto Marlies.
