The Ducks announced Friday they have re-signed Getzlaf to an eight-year contract extension that will carry him through the 2020-21 season. The team did not disclose the terms of the contract, but multiple sources have reported it's for $66 million, or an annual average value of $8.25 million.

Agreed. I thought he'd command somewhere in the range of 7 mil, but 8 mil + is definitely an overpayment. Considering Perry will likely command somewhere around the same contract, Anaheim could be shooting themselves in the foot for years to come.

I was thinking around that range, actually. 7.5 mil at least, same with Perry. No way Rocket Richard winner or legit 1C gets less in today's NHL. There's no home discount there for sure but Getz had big leverage.

I doubt Perry ever reaches the same form he had when he won the Rocket Richard and Hart in 2010-11 again. As for Getz, 8.625 is an overpayment for sure, when you consider his performances the last three seasons. He's a legit 1C and means a lot to that franchise, but considering the contracts that have been given to other big FA lately (Nash, Richards, Zetterberg etc.), it's still inflated but not by an exorbitant amount.

Makes you worry about Stamkos' next contract.

That's pretty ridiculous imo. Wow. Getzlaf is good, but he's not nearly on the same level as Stamkos or Crosby or whoever else gets paid even nearly that much.

If I were a player, I'd want his agent.

You know what would be a good combine question?

Are you a pig, or are you a chicken?

Why?

If they answer that they're a pig because bacon makes a commitment, they win the combine.

Before subjecting myself to ridicule on the main threads, I'd thought i'd ask my question here and see if you guys had the answer:

Are you allowed to check the defensive player on a delayed offside? It seems to me this would be interference, as it's impossible you could be trying to play the puck. Buttttttt.......I think I just saw it done in this Philly v. Buffalo game.

As in the defensive player that has the puck? If yes, then yes but the linesman will usually blow it dead when the offside player pursues the puck without attempting to get back onside. Or maybe I'm completely misunderstanding you

Leopold and Regehr are available for trade. Any chance Yzerman trades for either of them?

This. I think healthy, he'd be hard pressed to suck harder than Brewer this year.

Haven't paid that much attention to Leopold but he's upcoming UFA and wouldn't be much of an upgrade on what this roster already has.

Pass on Regehr.. He's declined a LOT from his Calgary days, shell of his old self. No physicality and handles the puck like grenade.

One of those things you need to say out loud.

You know how I know that the talks about a coach's challenge are serious? (ignoring whatever Pierre McGuire says)

When was the last time the Lightning really got ****ed by the refs? At least the last 3 Lightning games have been called loose, as have the other league games I've been watching over the past bit.

The first Habs game we got boned pretty hard in the first, but it evened out by the end of the game. Other than that, some borderline calls/no calls, but nothing terribly egregious.
