Projected top 6/top4:

Kunitz-Crosby-Dupuis
Morrow-Malkin-Neal

Orpik-Letang
Murray-Martin
Despres and Niskanen, Eaton there too. They are set for postseason.

I don't think Despres, Eaton or Niskanen would displace any of the top 4 I listed, do you? Possibly Niskanen or Despres in place of Murray, but I gather Shero traded for Murray with him playing top 4 minutes in mind.

I don't watch the Penguins regularly but from what I think I know, Murray-Martin would be very slow. I think Murray would be best as a bottom pair guy who would provide very solid depth.

Martin's not slow, I would say he's average to above average in terms of mobility. However, you may be onto something. Perhaps Murray-Letang and Orpik-Martin would be more appropriate pairings for them? I just don't see Shero trading away two 2nd round picks for a bottom pairing guy (even if one of the picks is conditional).

Just a random thought, but what if Marty convinced Tim Thomas to join the Lightning for the next two years this summer? He's a year removed from being an elite goalie and he'd be the perfect stop gap until Vasilevski's ready. Also, he's old enough that he'll need Lindback to play 40% of the games and would allow him more time to develop and refine his game.

Despres over Murray. Despres-Letang, Orpik-Martin.

That's what I gathered from Pens fans. They have loved Despres so far.

Though some said Despres might be send down (at least for a while) as they have like 9 dman signed. I think he's the only one who is waiver eligible.

That's the impression I got since Despres is the only one who is exempt from waivers (which is what I think you meant). Otherwise, Bortuzzo would have been the easier choice to be sent down. I see Eaton as the 6th/7th defenseman, which leaves us with Niskanen and Murray fighting for the 4th/5th d spots.

It could easily be Martin-Letang and Orpik-Niskanen though, but that would leave a very slow pairing of Murray-Eaton as the third pair...

Semin signs 5-year exentension with Carolina: $7 million per year.

Getzlaf, Perry, Semin... good times to be a star player.

But let's lock out the players because they make too much money

Tier 2 hockey players making tier 1 money

Well, with the new CBA we won't see any super long and front loaded contracts anymore. Good players will get paid accordingly.

Apparently not. No way Perry and Getzlaf are worth 8+/year. Semin has incredible talent but he is not worth 7/year.

Jussi Jokinen is on waivers a couple days after Jeff Halpern was.

Rangers’ Head Coach John Tortorella reached a major coaching milestone with the Rangers’ 5-2 victory over the Philadelphia Flyers – his 400th career win as an NHL head coach. He becomes just the 30th coach in NHL history to amass that many victories. In 838 career games behind the bench, Tortorella has led his teams to a record of 400-335-37-66. Already the winningest US-born coach in NHL history, he also becomes the first American head coach to hit the 400-win mark.

The Rangers next 5 games are against OTT(5th), MTL(4th), WPG(3rd), PIT(1st), PIT(1st). They could easily go 0-5 or 1-4 in those games.

The Bolts next 5 games are against NJD(7th), FLA(out), CAR(out), NYI(out), WAS(out). They can go 5-0 or 4-1 in those games. This can happen guys.

I know what I like and I hate this move. Hopefully Boston can't re-sign him this summer!

EDIT: The rumoured deal is Bartowski, Khokhlavchev and a 1st round pick for Iginla.

Figured he was going there. Fits in best with the Boston style game compared to the other 3 teams on his list

I love him as a player and he's such a consummate professional, which is why I would prefer he doesn't go to a dirty team like Boston. Great deal for them if true, nightmare for us if he resigns there.

If he does go there then Boston will be my team in the playoffs as soon as the Lightning aren't in it. I wanna see him win one, he really deserves it.

I agree that I'd love to see Iggy win a cup, however I can never cheer for a team that has dirty players like Lucic, Marchand and Chara.

Eh, Boston will always be that kind of team. I'd rather see him win one than Boston not win.

I've wondered a bit with Cooper as the HC now:

You know how he said he'd never let the fans walk away from the arena not proud of the team? That included "sending a message" at the end of games if losing? I hate that ****. I sincerely hope we don't become the Bruins. It's really my only worry.

That includes getting pissy over other teams putting hits on. The Bruins dish it out, but they can't take it. I don't want this team to become that.

Can someone relieve me? Or am I spot on

Also. This is funny:

I like the Bruins anyway, but man, it'd be awesome to see Iginla in black & gold.

Edit: Cooper likes old school hockey. I'm glad we have someone who won't let the team go down without a fight.
