Bad news for Caps haters the world over. I can't imagine that they can find a coach that they won't play harder for this year. Not to mention what this could mean to their tradition of playoff choking! This sucks

Not sure what took em so long to be quite honest with you.

By the way, now that Dale Hunter is coach does anyone see the Caps potentially turning into the league's newest goon-squad?

Not good news.

Hunter's gonna have them playing a much tougher game now.

True, but they still have weak players like Semin and Green. Their defense and goalie are question marks, no doubt they will play harder but I don't a big change unless they make some moves. Guess we will know on Thursday night

Underrate the Caps at your peril. I certainly hope the Pens aren't taking this as lightly as the rest of the board.

Dale Hunter played a nasty game as a player. I'm not enthused about facing his team once he's got time to work with them.

That's what I'm saying. I have a feeling he's gonna have them playing a VERY chippy game, and that his brand of hockey might be what Ovie needs in order to get his game rolling again.

As a PR move Washington should have had Dale Hunter wait until Boudreau was cheering a goal and then hit him from behind into the boards

I never got the impression that his nastiness translated to coaching though. I mean, the Knights weren't exactly roughing up the OHL.

I'm anticipating Hunter to quantum leap off the bench after Crosby scores.

I don't think they'll be a goon squad. I just mean there'll be more accountability. And that's what worries me. I like the Caps playing lazy, uninspired firewagon hockey.

The silver lining is that the Caps didn't go out and get a defensive strategist, I suppose.

Dangerous team (if Ovechkin wakes up) but let's see what Hunter can do with them. For the record I don't think their offense is as dominant as it was in past seasons and their defense is questionable as well, as far as being cup caliber or not.

Not scared. I'm expecting the Pens to dominate them this week. Maybe Hunter is their Bylsma but I doubt it.

Kinda funny how a coach breaks a record for fastest to win 200 games and then gets fired shortly after. They went through the same kinda funk last year around this time and managed to turn it around and dominate the regular season like usual. I don't like the guy but he has been a good coach for them and it's very difficult to improve on what he has done. I grew more impressed with him when he showed that he could completely switch his team strategy and still manage to win. It's the playoff losses that hurt him the most but he always managed to get his team into the playoffs as the best possible seed. Kinda wonder how much was him and how much was his players bu I do feel bad for the guy and I don't really see the Caps being able to do any better. Some other team is going to pick up Bruce. And Dale Hunter can go screw himself with an oversized hockey stick, I hate that guy.

The playoff flame-outs were more than enough to see the guy canned. That team has been absolutely loaded and to go down in the first and second round every year was pretty unacceptable.

Damn. I wanted him to be a life-long coach. He's horrible.
