Tuesday Nov 29th Jets Game Day Papers (post practice audio from Jets)

Tuesday Nov 29th Jets Game Day Papers

Note: Be sure to stay tuned to IC.com all day as we will have audio following practice from both teams and as always, will have the post-game audio up on site. If there are any questions you'd like answers to from either team, feel free to tweet us @illegalcurve or comment here (or on site) or email us.

Winnipeg Free Press: Jets like to work from home. We are certainly about to find out if that is true or not very soon. With 13 of the next 15 games at home the Jets will have their best opportunity to get acclimatized to Winnipeg and to use the very friendly confines of the MTS Centre to their full advantage.

Winnipeg Sun: Jets’ plug-and-play defence. Most teams that have lost key defenceman like an Enstrom or Hainsey, would have to pray they could get someone serviceable from the press box. When the Jets then lose Meech and Jones they next turn to their AHL affiliate IceCaps and Festerling(injured), Flood and Kulda have stepped in and played well.

Winnipeg Sun: Jets Snapshots – NHL coaching carnage hits home. Claude Noel discusses losses to coaching fraternity. Noel happy for Schiefele. Andrew Ladd talks World Juniors. Kane wins Grey Cup bet vs. Manitoba teammates. Hainsey still not practicing, Fehr/Jaffray take maintenance days, Jones about a week away from resuming skating and Enstrom back on ice but no timeline in sight.

Winnipeg Free Press: Scheifele a shoo-in as junior invitee. For most in the Peg’ who have been unable to follow the Jets #1 draft pick in the 2011 Entry Draft while he has played with the Barrie Colts in the OHL, this will be a great opportunity to see his progress on one of the biggest stages for a player his age.

Winnipeg Free Press: Beating Flames in 85′ so sweet – MacLean. MacLean will always have a warm spot in the hearts for many in this city for the role he played with the Jets 1.o. Some Winnipeg Jets 1.o trivia – Which team did the Jets trade Paul MacLean to and which player did they get back in return?

Jets next opponent news – Ottawa Senators:

Ottawa Citizen: Now all Filatov has to do is score. The Senators have given the enigmatic Russian the best chance for success. It is on Filatov to seize the opportunity.

Globe and Mail: Senators roll the dice with Erik Karlsson. An interesting story on how his dad convinced him to go from wanting to be a goalie, to agreeing to try out defence. As he continues to develop, the Sens know they have someone who has the long-term potential to dramatically improve this team.

Ottawa Citizen: Sens injury update. Looks like the Senators will use the same lineup against the Jets that they used against the Carolina Hurricanes on Sunday.

Ottawa Sun: Happy Jets memories for Sens coach. I wonder if MacLean knew, when making his dinner choice, that Hys downtown had moved. The place formerly known as Hys (across from the Medical Arts Building) is now a parking lot.

Ottawa Citizen: Crosby under Sens’ skin. Count me in as someone who will watch the December 16th rematch between these two teams following the war of words.

Winnipeg Jets Afternoon News

Winnipeg Jets Afternoon News

Winnipeg Free Press: Jets hope to press home ice advantage. As cliche as it sounds the Jets know they can’t get too far ahead of themselves and have to stay focused on “1 game at a time”. They can’t afford to look past the team they are playing tonight, a team that is currently ahead of them in the standings.

Winnipeg Sun: Jets and Senators ready for 2nd meeting. Coach Noel was complimentary to the Senators during his game-day press conference and the game they played in Ottawa, a game he noted they used to springboard themselves onto a nice winning streak. His focus is on getting his game to play the way he has outlined after being on the road.

TSN: Jets begin homestand against Senators. Brian Munz gives you tonight’s projected lines for both the Jets and Senators. Ottawa is keeping with the winning formula from Sunday’s game against Carolina. The Jets have moved the 3rd and 4th lines around. Is it the end of the GST as we know it?

Winnipeg Free Press: Arnett helps Winnipeg United Way give gifts of sport to kids. It is very nice that the actor, who has a Winnipeg family connection, is giving to this community in such a way that will allow kids who wouldn’t normally have the opportunity, the chance to see NHL hockey.

CBC: NHL 1st quarter hints at snug playoff races. Interesting (and unfortunate) if you are a fan of the Jets that of the 8 teams in a playoff position at this time last year, only 1 (Ottawa) fell out of a playoff spot. Do you expect the Jets to make the final 8 this year?

Winnipeg Free Press: Jets Scheifele enjoying the ride. The Jets first choice in the 2011 Entry Draft always seems to have a smile on his face as he embraces all these new challenges. Expect big things from him at the World Juniors this year.

Jets next opponent news – Ottawa Senators:

Winnipeg Free Press: Senators know crowd’s energy brings MTS Centre alive. Jason Spezza seemed very aware of what this Winnipeg crowd is like, even saying he had watched the home opener and was excited to see the crowds. Of course as a visiting player he hasn’t yet experienced the Manitoba hospitality that gets left at the doors of the MTS Centre, when the usually ‘Friendly Manitobans’ lose that moniker.

Ottawa Citizen: Senators stand pat against Jets. Paul MacLean is going to use the same lineup he won with in Carolina on Sunday.
