Bruce Boudreau Appreciation Thread

It's pretty unanimous that he ran his course in DC, but in Boudreau's tenure as head coach, the organization passed a bunch of milestones and picked up a bunch of franchise and league firsts, so this seemed appropriate idea.

My favorite BB memory is that one time when he dropped the f-bomb.

He did a good job the first few years when the blueline was swiss cheese. The last few years showed he was out of his element with the defense first system, especially during crunch times when he would resort to throwing his hands up and saying, "I don't know." That led to the players to abandon him in the end IMO.

BB has an excellent regular season winning % record. Made it tough for McPhee to finally pull the trigger. He had to be totally sure. And then it happened.

Good luck to BB, a good guy and a player's coach first.

Yea, he got lots of hate from me, but he won't have a hard time finding a new home. He's a descent coach.

Colorado, Columbus, Anaheim all should be interested.

He did a great job showing these kids they could be awesome. In a month, he'll be remembered in a better light. That's how it works.

Good coach, probably the best the caps have ever had. The fit just wasn't there any more, and it's a lot easier to replace the coach than the team.

The last couple of months of the 2008 season was the most enjoyable stretch of Caps hockey that I had a chance to watch.

They played gutsy, entertaining hockey and they did it with smiles on their faces. And it was very clearly all on Bruce.

He made it ridiculously fun to be an STH for a while there. Tough they had to lose so much steam at the end here.

Thanks for helping to bring the Caps from the gutter to the penthouse. May you find success with any franchise but the 2011-2012 Avalanche.

Last 25 games or so in 07-08 season were the most exiting times in recent memory for me. I wish we would've won the most coveted prize in hockey with him at the helm, but... coaches get hired to be fired... Good Luck coach.

Much respect and admiration for Bruce. Hope some here aren't blinded by hate and give him his due.

Boudreau took a last place team and turned them into something to be feared. Give Ovechkin all the credit he deserves, but remember that even though Ovi put ***** in seats, Bruce was the one that got them the wins that brought us here.

No one would hate on the Capitals as much as they did if they didn't win games and pose a legitimate threat to the rest of the league.

Thank you Bruce, you deserve better than what this team was giving you, and what the fans say about you.

Agreed, a magic run in 07-08. It is too bad the way things worked out. I am sure he will land a job before long.

Thanks for the memories, Gabby.

My favorite hockey memories are from that playoff run in 2008, even more so than the Cup run in 1998. Thanks BB, you were the right man for the job right up until the Montreal series.

I'd wish him luck, but he probably won't need it. With that record someone will give him a shot.
