This isn't a matter of internet speed. I'd say most people have a connection perfectly capable of handling 3000 kbps streams these days. Seems more a hit and a miss. Problems on the PC might include CPU, GPU and GPU settings (playing around with the NVidia control panel did the trick for me), while with the PS3 app it appears to depend on the model, no problems on my PS3 but other people with decent enough connection and a PS3 are reporting issues, and I assume they're not lying about it. So yeah, the apps definitely seem to be in a beta stage at this point.

Geki, they're definitely not 1080p @ 60 fps

LOL at this 1080p stuff. Hockey isn't even broadcasted in 1080p to begin with! How are we going to get that kind of quality?!

And yes, it's absolutely acceptable to probably most people. Especially those who have never really had access to all the games GCL provides in HD. But for myself, it's very noticeable when there are quick camera pans, and fast player and puck movements. It's watchable but there's an obvious contrast in quality between Directv CI and GCL. GCL just can't keep up with a consistent enough frame rate.

Basically, if I could give any advice to someone weighing their options, this would have to be your order of choice.

1. If you have and or willing to get into a Dish or Directv system + CI, do it now.
2. GCL on PS3\PC, tablet.
3. Hockeystreams.com
4. Your local cable Center Ice or FiOS.
Can someone explain to me how 'hockeystreams.com' works? I see donations, but does it cost money to actually view the game?

Thanks

Well that's the point of this "donation". You can become a member for free but watching games does cost. There are several packages that you can subscribe to depending on how much you wanna "donate"

I'm not sure you can sign up from Sweden at this point. Didn't you guys get a deal with some other company ?
When you click on any game on nhl.com it should give you the option "watch", if you click that it'll take you to the GCL log-in/sign up page, for instance.

Yeah I'm obviously not getting the red stuff at the top but when I click "watch live" I get to sign up/log in. I don't think I can help out with the Viasat server problem. Maybe it's not active yet ?

They offer a bunch of other sports included in that price, but if you're only interested in NHL it's a steep price yes. They have exclusive rights though, so they are your only legal option.

Personally I've been very pleased with them, but then I watch a bunch of their other sports there as well (NFL, F1, Champions League etc.)

I downgraded flash on my google chrome and gcl runs smoother now. I'm not tech savvy enough to know why but, the lagg problems started when flash upgraded.

So, yeah. I tried to subscribe to GameCenter, ended up subscribing to the vault. Not a bad thing I guess, but every time I try to go to the gamecenter sub page, it gives me the same vault sub page. Can anyone help? Tired of the crappy, choppy streams.

Thanks in advance.

Viaplay have exclusive rights in scandinavia, so they are your only legal option. They basically offer NHL GameCenter included in their regular sports package, but it is a bit pricy if you're only interested in NHL.

Does anyone have a list of the games in the NHL Vault? I'm considering buying that. For only $5 a month, you can't really go wrong.

So I root for like three teams now and with NBA coming back, I have the celtics to watch as well... For next season, I was thinking of getting GCL

From someone who has it, what are the pros and cons? I right now just use crappy streams where some nights the game will play thru fine and others it will be a struggle to even watch...

The whole on demand aspect is really appealing as well.

I just need someone to push me over the top into getting it next season.

Read back 3 pages and you should have enough info to make a purchase.

$20 is a small fee for all that hockey. Only drawback to GCL is that it won't carry nationally televised games and your local market (versus, nbc, nhl network). You'll need to switch to your local cable/sat if you want to watch those games. Anything else it's the next best thing if you don't have Directv Center Ice.

I did the same thing at the start of last season. Contact the GC support phone number. They fixed it for me very quickly and set me up with GC for the season too.

Aww bugger. I'm not paying for Viaplay (saw them broadcasting an individual game... for 9,95€ ), so streams are pretty much my only option. That, or actually using the Vault and watching the games afterwards in case I miss them, which is actually brilliant option when I come to think of it. The Vault works well, the image quality is great and the selection is good. My only problem is the player, as the user interface is... unfortunate, and it all feels a bit of a botched job. What's wrong with a YT-type of player anyway?

But yeah, thank you for your response, appreciated. Viasat getting the rights is a shame.
