Source was right that Caps are kicking tires on Bobby Ryan, although still thought to be unlikely! According to Bobby Mac... (CONTINUED)
Caps one of teams who COULD be interested in Ryan...
Source: Caps easily have the pieces to make a trade offer for Ryan. But, the big question is: 1. Do they want to do it? & 2. Is it worth it?
I'm kind've on the fence, sure he's a great player and star but would it really be worth it?
Late on it, but from Source: Canadiens Scouts have been at multiple Caps games as of late.
Also, from Source: Caps had Scout(s) at Canadiens/Ducks Game Tonight in Anaheim.
Interesting Fact: Caps don't play Canadiens until Late January, and Caps don't play the Ducks anymore this season.
Thinking outside of the box...Here's a list of players that could be realistic/useful for Caps, who played for Dale Hunter in the OHL:
Players: Dave Bolland, Michael Del Zotto, Sam Gagner, Daniel Girardi, Nazem Kadri, Sergei Kostitsyn, & Kyle Quincey.
That's why GMGM went to Dale last season before acquiring Denis Wideman to check-in and see if he was a solid player to pick-up.
Lots of good stuff here from overnight. I think a trade with ANA is more likely now with Bruce going there. He knows what he would be getting with the players coming his way. Wouldn't it be hilarious if Semin goes to ANA in part for a Ryan deal.
I think they should pull the trigger on a Ryan deal. It would most likely get Semin out of here (not that I think he needs to go but it does seem like he isn't too high on DHs list with his low TOI in his first game. Ryan would be an excellent addition to the top line with 8 and 19.
I'm not opposed to Ryan. He'll no doubt score here and he hits. GMGM said he is worried about the defense and that is something I want to see in terms of moves. I'm not going to object to Ryan though if we go after him, just hope we don't give up Orlov. Of those players mentioned that played for DH, I like Bolland.
I created a "systems./style" thread that didn't gain traction... we going to talk this here?
Craig put down his Tom Collins long enough to go on Sirius NHL.
Major change is Dzone pressure. HE said some times you may see two D in corner on puck with C taking area in front of goal. Very aggresive. Reminds me of how we pk'd lately. Remember the faceoff and quick goal about 5-7 games ago... can't remember team. Hammer along boards and JC behind dot on faceoff. Puck goes to corner, both attack... quick pass to slot and Nick is beat to goal. I think it was NYR.
