We really need to acquire another top 6 winger and/or center. I'd be going after Moulson hard.

Knubes needs to move up to 2nd line. Eakin sent down. Don't even know Hershey anymore. Need a grinder.

Keep boyrque ******* far far away.

Without Sjogren, your choices are essentially King and Hanson.

Yeah, I really wanted to keep Hannan and I didn't get the Hammer signing.

I'd just swap Knubes and Eakin on the 2nd/4th lines. I like those lines.

1-0 game last min after time out and Calgary has 22 out there to help secure shutout.

Hammer gets puck to vokun's right. On his backhand. Free space in front. Two attacks behind him. He can't even take two one leg push strides and backhand clear. He gets caught, and turns puck over. Freaking molasses man.

I wonder if we could swap Hamrlik and a pick for him at the deadline.

If Ted would eat it, we're coming to that point. If someone swipes him on re-entry, it's just half cost for one year, right? Not entire contract?????

1/2 cap hit for the entire duration of the contract if claimed on re-entry.

No, we're gonna have to pay someone to take him.

Assigning him to Hershey would do no good since it's a 35+ contract. Doubt anyone would claim him on the way down, and don't know if they can afford to eat half his contract on the way back up.

Only hope of getting rid of him before his contract expires (assuming he doesn't pick it up at some point) might be a new round of cap-free buyouts with the new CBA.

Still rather have Hamrlik than Sean Collins or whoever else from Hershey would take his place. Our defense is thin, we'd need a replacement if we were to ditch him.

Great McPhee quote in Whyno's article about Sjogren's departure:
Quote:
"I know Claude Lemieux [who also represents Sjogren] told him that he should stick it out," McPhee said. "So either Rico Winters or whatever his name is told him to go home or the player didn't want to be there."

Hamrlik is the contingency plan that happens when an idiot gm re-signs the always broken Tom Poti for no reason whatsoever. Added bonus: no banked cap space for this season or next.

So after the lackluster effort shown last night, I'm more and more convinced Dale won't be able to do anything with this group until some of the softness is purged. Bye bye Schulz and bye bye Semin (unless he drastically turns it around in the next dozen games or so). Send Eakin down as well and go get a couple of forwards (one top six and one bottom six) and a left sided defenseman that can skate and have some mental toughness.

Some guys (pending UFAs) that might work:

Top-6: Koivu, Prospal, Stoll, Doan, Ruutu, Whitney, Nielsen

Bottom-6: Moss, Pahlsson, Nichol, Tootoo, McClement, Moen

Defenseman: Beauchemin, Jackman, Suter, Gleason

I'm sure there are probably players that would fit that are not pending UFAs as well.

Really don't know what can be done with Hamrlik. Management seems to want his leadership and experience, but he's hurting the team on the ice, and a $3.5M 7th defenseman does no one any good. Maybe make it worth the while of a cap floor team to take his contract?

Mattias Sjogren Bolts for Sweden?

Saw a tweet this morning from agent Ritch Winter "Wash promised he would not be sent to AHL for more than a few games before signing. Clear now that was not accurate".

Is he gone or just threatening. Not happy that the kid calle Hershey a "podunk town", but has been pretty strong on the ice.

Reported that GMGM response was "If you're going to quit on us, you might as well go".

Reported by PAPUCK.

Caps and Bears both appear to be imploding. GMGM was at the Bears game this past Saturday to watch the debacle of a game. More heads to roll?

Schultz, a 1st and a 2nd for Gleason?

I think you have to go all in on Suter if he makes it to July 1. We have the cash.

Agreed. Too perfect a fit not to. Perfect partner for Mr. Glass or Carlson and pretty much exactly the defenseman Alzner should strive to be. Might also give you the inside track on Weber when he becomes unrestricted.

**** it, blow the entire budget on the back end!

Suter - Weber
Gleason - Green
Alzner - Carlson

I think packaging a pick with Sarge and going after Gleason is a pretty good idea... if Hamrlik could go instead even better, but don't think that will happen.

Is it me or has Carlson really sucked this year? He seemed to be catching my eye every game cause of the stupid things he does. Hammer, Carlson, and Sarge, have all be bad this year

Wideman has been regressing too

Sophomore slump, likely. He'll snap out of it, though. He's shown flashes.

Wideman is what he is. He'll provide solid offense from the blue line, but needs a partner to cover for defensive ineffectiveness at times--like last night, where he just gave away the near post to the St. Louis forward (can't recall who it was).

Wideman played his best for this team last year when he was paired with Hannan IIRC... Never thought I'd miss Hannan on the team, but after watching Hamrlik out there.....

Carlson has slumped in a huge way defensively. His offense is at or above where it had been, but he's totally dropped his game in his own end (and especially on the PK to these eyes).

Might be a major factor in Woods' ouster
