Joe Colborne's obviously. He ripped it home. Half clapper, top cheddar!

bozak's goal doesn't even come close given the two garbage AHLers he beat on the play.

admittedly, it was a nice first NHL goal, but given the context, eberle's is way more impressive.

Not to take anything away from Super Mario's first, but since people keep bringing up the reason it is the best is because he took the puck from one of the GOATs in Ray Bourque, then people should also know Ray was only 4 years into his NHL career at that point. I know he was great from the moment he entered the league, I'm just sayin!

My votes go

Hextall, Osgood, Eberle, Bozak, Lemieux, Datsyuk

Definitely the Eberle one. I remember watching that game and having to pick my jaw up off the floor.

I think Ebs was a SHG, so that puts it over the top for me.

Also, Stoner's > Talbot's

Seriously, I love Eberle, but his goal has been so amazingly overblown, it's not even funny. It was a very nice play, one of the nicest first goals ever. Even nicer given the situation, but I keep hearing "best dangle ever", "goal of the year", etc. Come on. Not even close.

Personally, in terms of first goals ever, I think Bozak's goal was nicer. I think it takes more skill to go through a player than it does to go around a player that is sprawled out on the ice. I also think it takes more skill to go top corner on a goalie in position, than it does to shoot it over a goalie sprawled out in mid-falling motion.

Even more hilarious, part of the reason Bozak got that opportunity was that right before, he lost an edge and did one of the funniest flops ever. That said, I'm not even sure I'd say Bozak's is the nicest first goal ever either without seeing more of them.

In terms of most unique, it would have to be Talbot. Never seen that before. Awesome.

Haha, this is too funny. A "Stoner" play, indeed.

Eberle's my favorite, not the sickest moves ever but wow, that sure made his presence known in the league.

I also liked Hodgson's first - mighty patience:

I think this was John Carlson's first goal.
Ties Game 2 against Montreal with 1:21 left in the 3rd.

Not the best, but a good meaningful playoff one.

Lemieux's goal was nice first shot first game first shift wow!
Ebs goal will always be my favorite though probably because in 20 years I can say I saw his first goal in person. The crowds reaction was insane most explosive ovation since the up run couldn't even here the goal announcement it was so loud good times

...It WAS goal of the year voted on NHL.com.

I totally get what you're saying though. It's overblown a little because it's Jordan Eberle and every Canadian has a soft spot for him after the World Jr's in 09 and 10.

Lemieux

Talbot will definitely always hold a soft spot for me because...seriously...what the hell was that? I can proudly say I was there for Crosby and Malkin's first ever goals, but they definitely weren't pretty. Lemieux's was just...well, it was Lemieux-like. Any time he did anything it had to be dramatic.

If anyone has Aleksey Morozov's first goal I'd love to see that again because it has been years, I honestly don't remember if it was beautiful or a Crosby-esque stab at a puck in the paint...I just remember that it was another first goal/first shift situation (hey, I wore my hockey number because of Morozov...in reverse).

I know, which just shows how overrated it is. But it was proclaimed as goal of the year right after it happened, long before any poll.

It was the nicest goal of the year though. I'd say it was the nicest first goal ever hands down. First game, shorthanded, absolutely rediculous deke.
