Average D-man to Philadelphia

We don't need a superstar, we don't want a bad player, we just need someone that is average that can play minutes while Pronger is out and drop to the third pairing when hes not. Ideally the Flyers would look for a setup like this:

Timonen - Coburn
Carle - average defenseman
Meszaros - Gus/Marshal/Bourdon/

with Pronger:

Pronger - Carle
Timonen - Coburn
Meszaros - Average defenseman

Could be a good time for the Flyers to dangle Bobrovsky... thoughts? Maybe Toronto would be interested, they seem to have a bit of a logjam at the blue line.

Sarich would fit in nicely I think. Maybe a 3rd at the deadline for him?

They need one for December with Pronger, Gustafsson, and Lilja out.

The Jets could give you Oduya, although I guess we'd have to take back some salary in some way.

What would Gleason cost? UFA at the end of the year, and Carolina doesn't look like they'll be contending this year.

Gragnani for your 3rd rounder. C'mon, remember how good he was in last year's playoff series?

He'll need to play sheltered minutes, but he can help on your PP. He's very cheap, too, at $550k. He has 8 pts, and is a +7. What's not to like? And your team is plenty tough enough to make up for MAG's softness.

Scott Hannan

Averaging 20 minutes per night on our second pairing....he's also our only top 4 defenseman who is currently a plus player.

Cheap ticket, $1,000,000 for one year.

Not fast, but very good positionally, makes good decisions and has a good first pass.

Flames would send him over for one of your second round picks. (Kings or Panthers, either is fine)

Andrew Alberts for like a 3rd or 4th. He is large, like Pronger. That's all I got.

Lovejoy for Nodl. Lovejoy would possibly be the only player that Pittsburgh would be willing to let go. That's after they get past the idea of phoning and helping out Philadelphia.

Brookbank for a 2nd or Nodl. Been a nice surprise this year and can play up to 17 mins a night.

I'd like Hannan. Don't get why he last so long in free agency.

not so sure.. maybe a pick or some prospects? or an upgrade on a certain position ?

our forward roster is full, same with our D ... Franson and Schenn have both been playing amazing as of lately (along with the rest of our D core) which makes Aulie expendable

With Bryzgalov getting splinters in his rear from riding the pine so much lately, I wouldn't move Bob unless it was part of a package for someone better than average. That leaves MFL as the guy in net should Bryz get lost in the woods again. Not a very pleasant thought.

Defensemen that I believe could fill the role (if the price is reasonable): Barrett Jackman, John Erskine, Greg Zanon, Ben Lovejoy, or Rusty Klesla. A few of those guys may cost a little too much, but if it would be reasonable I would take them.
