Already freakin excited. Looking for some crazy energy tonight.
If Green and Erskine can get healthy Sarge and Hammer are 7/8 on my D chart. Moving Sarge is fine by me. That would leave 7 Dmen plus a couple reasonable call ups if necessary. Sorry but the only other changes I wanted this off season were for BB and Sarge to GTFO.
I want to see Semin play a while under Hunter before deciding anything more about him.
Was Alan May talking about Dino Ciccarelli telling him Dale would win a cup as the coach of the Caps?
Nah, good old Dino was not mentioned. The only thing of interest brought up was May knew something was up a couple weeks ago when GMGM "went into hiding".
I like three changes made to the PP, (Knuble in front, Ovechkin on the half-wall and Orlov playing point) Three obvious moves. Ovechkin as a screen was a blatantly retarded idea and it's nice to see Hunter immediately recognizing Orlov's hockey IQ. I would still replace Semin with Backstrom as the rover. Hunter will learn quickly what Semin does with responsibility.

Is Knuble good at faceoffs though? I know Ovi is always eager to get in the dot when his center gets kicked out but he's not very good on the draw.
Let's see how many seam passes ovi tries from half wall. Let's see how many times with pressure he over handles puck and doesn't move it quickly.
Those turnovers, which he displayed so ever presently from his early days along half wall. If those go. Then I'm fine with it.
Personally what I'd like from him on the half wall is to make easy passes either to the point or who ever is to the left of him giving him support. And when he doesn't have the puck get open and create space for the others to move the puck around and if hes open take the one-timer.

Quite frankly, the key to this, I think, is some puck support. Honestly, I've never seen more guys left alone with a man advantage. No one to pass to, no one in position to support in a scrum. That kind of fundamental discipline is so lacking in this team. Ovie wouldn't need to stick handle to death if his teammates were there to support. He could learn to make the safe play if he consistently had one. And not just Ovie, but the lot of 'em.
Also there are plenty of times the young guns all take the pretty play over he easy play. Many times. So I agree with maybe 3 of 4 is teamwork. The other 25% is idiocy.
Anson Carter on the NHL On the Fly stated that typically their is a boost for the first 10 games or so as players are proving themselves to the new coach but that after those 10 and players settle in that this would be the most telling to see who is on board with the new program.
Caught Carter for the first time last night on NHL on the Fly. I liked his insight and commentary.
Ok a post of mine just up and vanished like a fart in the wind. It's a conspiracy that's what it is. All of you... Even her!
What I said in response to ccf post was that the receiver of the pass is the one mostly responsible for the pass. If you want it, move. Not sure how often that's been preached or how dumb our guys are.
If Schultz becomes Bobby Orr I will fly to the city of your choice and you can kick me in the balls. We'll webcast it to hf.
Be careful what you promise. Gotta get the specifics right. Are we talking about Bobby Orr right now, or Bobby Orr when he played hockey? Because if it's the former, you might be in for some ball kicking.

Hey guys good luck tonight, hope for a good clean injury free game. You guys might have a slight advantage, our team has been battling the flu for the last few days and tonight it looks like Pietrangelo might be a scratch due to symptoms.
OV-Backstrom-Brouwer are going to see alot of Steen-Backes-Oshie tonight which means this one might be decided by secondary scoring.
Also little sidenote, I would give just about anything to have Backstrom in the Bluenote. Sadly I know it will never happen but he is just fun to watch when he is on.
NAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!!
