Not really.

I'm starting to think that a lot of people overvalue Ennis due to upside that is unlikely to be realized.

Really putting all our eggs in this year's basket. Taking out the rentals, the deal after this season becomes Ryan for Ennis + Stafford + Sekera. That's steep. I'm fine with Stafford and one of those guys, but I'd prefer not to shed all three.

Size isn't the issue for me.

I just wonder if he can translate his high skill level to being a guy that can get you 60 to 70 pts a season.

Amazingly, Ennis isn't enough to get under the cap based on his prorated salary. If you deal him, you have to keep an extra forward up too. It's really close.

We've been carrying 14 forwards from the beginning of the season, Vanek, Pominville, Leino, Roy, Stafford, Boyes, Hecht, Gaustad, Gerbe, McCormick, Kaleta, Ennis, Adam, and Ellis. Even if we 2 for 1, we will still have a spare when everyone is healthy and we don't really have to carry 2 scratch forwards. Yes we have to keep up an extra forward with Boyes out long term but there is a little bit more breathing room. It will still be very close.

I'm not game on giving up Sekara ... just because i think he's one of those pieces needed to win a cup ( A player that is worth more than his Cap hit shows) ...

For Ryan .. I'd give up Stafford + Weber + Calgary 2nd ... Even tho I really like both Weber and Staff.

To Buffalo: Ryan and the other D-man whose name i can't remember lol Brookbank?

To Anaheim : Stafford, Weber Calgary 2nd

I think we'd have to move more salary out tho' ... Ship Grags to the Habs for a 5th ...

The difference in salary between Weber and Gragnani is $400,000. Is Weber thought of as more of an asset than Gragnani?

Stafford+Gragnani+Calgary 2nd for Ryan

i dont see Anaheim taking McCormick's 1.3 cap hit, when they have Parros.

Not weird at all. If anything from a Sabres pov it makes more sense.

It would give us the following top 6 wingers; Vanek, Pommer, Ryan and Leino.

I do not see Ryan enough to know who centres him. He is great with Anaheim but if Getzlaf plays with him a lot then he gets space and opportunities he would not get here. He is touted as a big power forward with regular season potential of 40 goals per. We will not get him for castoffs. Further the Ducks would want to get cap space out of this--Stafford and Ennis alo will not cut it. IF we add a first round pick /or - another top young prospect (think Foligno, McNabb, Pysyk or Leduc) AND if we take back a little more salary in a player the Ducks want to move- and get the Anaheim second pick if they have one---then we might be in range for a deal.

Ryan >>> Stafford.

Trading for Ryan would mark a culture change and make this team instantly better.

Stafford, Ennis, Weber for Ryan and a pick.

I don't want to hear that it would be bad for our future to give up those assets. Ryan makes us better now and in the future. He's 24 years old and has plenty of great years ahead.

With Boyes, Hecht, Goose set to become UFA, you have some spots to fill for next season. Spots I believe Tropp, Kassian, and maybe a free agent can plug.

This year, when healthy:

Vanek-Adam-Poms
Gerbe-Roy-Ryan
Leino-Hecht-Boyes
McCormick-Gaustad-Kaleta
Absolutely agree with this. Hell I'd even do Stafford, Ennis, Sekera and the CGY 2nd if that's what it took. I know that is a huge price to pay, and he's not the elusive #1 center we're all hoping for, but players that bring the package that Bobby Ryan are almost never available and I think we should be all over this.

He'll be 25 by the end of this season and will have three more years of 5.1 left on his deal. Despite only having three full NHL seasons under his belt, he has three 30 goal seasons- and one of those 'full' years he notched 31 goals in 64 games. He's big and the most underrated aspect of his game is that he's very physical, something that Buffalo fans are very appreciative of. I think the Sabres are one legitimate top line player away from making that next step, and Bobby Ryan absolutely is that player.

Also, if there was any way to get back Toni Lydman in a Bobby Ryan deal, that'd be awesome.

Switch Ryan and Pommer. You can't split up those two the way they've been playing

The Sabres can't take back salary... it's needs to be pretty close to even...

yes i know trades like the following never happen

To Anaheim
Stafford, Boyes, Ennis, Gragnani, Weber= 10.375
- Anaheim gets a replacement for Ryan, in a downgrade to Stafford
- they add a high end young offensive forward in Ennis
- They get 2 young defensemen (one former first rounder with very high end potential)
- they get a salary dump in Boyes, who they could flip at the deadline for a 2nd round pick easily.

to Buffalo:
Ryan, Koivu, Lydman= 10.3

- Buffalo gets the big, power forward, goal scorer they've needed since the Soviet Union collapsed.
- They add a veteran center who still produces
- They bring back a sorely missed top 4 defensemen who can play both sides on any pairing.

Vanek-Adam-Pommer
Hecht-Roy-Ryan
Leino-Koivu-Kassian
Gerbe-Goose-Kaleta/McCormick/Ellis

Regehr-Myers
Lydman-Ehrhoff
Sekera-Leopold

If you look at his 11 pts this season, there are a lot of goals that Perry or Getzlaf were in on.

Although, there were a few that Selanne was in on, as well.

I think it's safe to say he's been moved around a bit this season.

That's gonna be a MAJOR issue, cuz Anaheim ownership has purportedly said that any trade made cannot have Anaheim taking on anymore salary.

There'd need to be a 3rd team involved...we'd need to shed a salary to that team.
