Who do you think has better hands? Pavel Datsyuk or Mario Lemieux?

Datsyuk may very well be second all-time in this category, but the answer to this question is Lemieux by a lot.

Datsyuk. Lemieux had a huge size advantage.

I would say Datsyuk has prettier hands, but Lemieux's size and reach made him a more effective stickhandler

They are both the best of their day. Hard to compare them, they played in different eras. Mario played with wood sticks, and by today's standards a lot of his stuff doesn't seem that amazing as it used to.

You know Mario retired only 5 seasons ago, right?

Yeah and he played all of 26 games that season. He was in the twilight of his career by the time composite sticks became popular in the early 2000s.

I would probably say Datsyuk was the better pure stickhandler, but better hands? Lemieux.

In 2000-2001 Lemieux was on pace for 145 points.
2001-2002 106 points
2002-2003 122 points
2003-2004 74 points
2005-2006 69 points

When composites became popular (2000ish) Lemiux was damn near on pace for 150 points.

There's a reason he, Gretzky, Orr and Howe are in a completely other league than everyone else.

No one is going to argue Mario wasn't one of the best players in the league. That's not what this is about.

Datsyuk is more entertaining. Lemieux may be better though.

Starting at 1:10 Lemieux goes past Ray Bourque prette nise.

Both awesome, but gotta go with Mario.

What I think too. But overall stickhandling effectiveness is Mario by a good margin.

Not only could Lemieux stickhandle as well or better than Datsyuk, he (unlike Datsyuk) had the ability to put the puck exactly where he wanted it, either when passing or shooting.

Lemieux had the best hands of all-time IMO.

you are underating datsyuk just because he is playing now but lemieux couldnt do some of the things that datsyuk can do. (stickhandling)

Lemieux because of his ridiculous reach. He used it as an essential part of his stickhandling. He might not have looked so spectacular or fancy because he utilized his reach so efficiently when he was tooling defenders.

What a ridiculous poll. Hey, who was the better passer, Henrik Sedin, or GRETZKY?

Can we not have comparison polls featuring the most legendary players to ever play the game? It's just embarrassing.
