Ville Leino vs Rob Niedermayer

I saw one of these last year but it was Niedermayer vs Lalime so I wanted to make my own spin on it cuz I think it would be funny.

Niedermayer ended last season in Buffalo with:
71GP, 5G and 19PTS

Currently Leino has:
23GP, 2G and 6PTS

If Leino keeps up at the pace that he's at I figure he should roughly have around 21PTS at seasons end, thats IF we keep him.

So do you think Leino will top Niedermayers top notch performance from last year?

We'll keep him, unless some GM is dumb enough to take on his 6 year contract. He will probably beat it though.

Funny idea, but this won't be close. Leino will finish with around 40 points.

Leino will blow special Neids points out of the water. Leino will get double what Neids did as a Sabre. Like I said in another thread. I will have a ton of patience with Leino. More than most probably, but it certainly doesn't take away the fact that he simply needs to start getting a few goals.

The question is: Enroth have more starts this season than Leino Points?

I say Enroth is gonna win that....

I know he hasn't produced goals/assists, but these past few games, Leino has been one of the hardest working players on the ice. He's just catching bad breaks and bounces and stuff like that. But A+ for effort.

Real stretch there. He gave away a breakaway that almost ended the game, then moments later couldn't control a puck with a wide open net to tie the game. He's been a complete disaster. He takes up space for other players. I wish we could just trade him and pretend this chapter never happened. Who could've imagined he'd be this much worse than Connolly?

I really wanted this to work out. But yeah, he's not that much better than Nieds at this point and making four times the amount. I'm not sure what they're going to do with Leino for the next five years, but a third-line LW making 4.5 million dollars hurts your ability to pay your top 6. And so that's why our top two centers next year will be making approximately 4.8 million between the two of them...

Well, the frustrating thing is that he was supposed to be the 2C. Then he changed his mind after getting the guaranteed payday. -_-

Awards:
At this point last season, Niedermayer was out of the lineup after knee surgery and everyone wanted him run off. He had six assists and was a -2. Few, if anyone, was all that happy with how he was playing.

Contrast that to the last few weeks of the season and into the playoffs, where being a capable vet was welcome and he potted 4 points in the playoffs. Early season returns don't always dictate full season accomplishments.
