It's funny how we have an oh so effective, yet sloppy penalty killing system in Montreal. I CAN'T STAND how the forwards never protect their points up close, they're always half way, like they don't care about intercepting the pass or blocking the shot from the point, but it works...

The same can be said about our D's barely clearing the net to be honest. It's like we don't deserve our success on the pk

53 is, yes, some sort of record - and that's the NHL record for most consecutive penalties killed!

2 Questions...

What is the NHL record?

How many have the Habs killed so far?

I said that the NHL record was 53, but the Habs have killed 43 so far. If we play the PK right then by the 3rd game of the road trip we will be right there.

Awesome. There should be some sort of convergence on this trip out West.

We will set the record for most penalties killed AND for most power plays without scoring a goal.

Obviously it's part of the strategy. Price is a tall goalie he can see pretty well, so by having the forwards not over-commit we limit Price's vision a bit but allow less space to the PP. Pretty great PK, requires patience and discipline - JM through and through.

It's amazing how opposing teams have better chances of scoring on our powerplay than they do on our penalty killing teams.

But yeah, this is a total jynx thread. I so see us getting scored on tomorrow. I will blame it on the OP.

I'm much more afraid when the Habs are on the PP than the PK, it's depressing.

Hell, I'm more afraid on a PP than I am on the wrong end of a 5 on 3 at this point, especially if Gill and Pleks aren't in the box.

Record or not, the streak is impressive when you look at the defense we have, i don't know if its more credit to the defensemen stepping up, forwards playing great defence, Coaching strategy (don't know if it is randy or JM scheme), or just some or all of the above

Yeah that has to be a record we give up more goals on our PPs than we do on opposition PPs. A coach who did his research would instruct his team to trip, slash and high stick us at will.

And the last PP we have given was a 5 on 3 on Nov 5 vs the Rangers.

The last 5 on 4 goal allowed was Oct 27 vs the Bruins.
