2011-2012 CHL, NCAA & European Prospects Thread - Part II

Look at that scrolling prospect list:

Larsson-NHL
Merrill-Suspended
Josefson-NHL(injured)
Tedenby-NHL
Urbom-AHL(almost NHL)
Palmieri-NHL(almost NHL)
Henrique-NHL
Gelinas
Burlon
Wedgewood

Next year's list will have Merrill, Urbom, Gelinas, Burlon, Wedge... Then....Clermont? Pietila? Boucher? Scarlett?

Yeah, we're doing a number on our prospect list right now - but in a good way.

We'll add more names in the coming draft too and possibly sign a college UFA don't forget.

Means nothing to have a shiny list of names, if they don't make it to the big league eventually. I'm happy that we're decimating our prospect list.

It means that our prospects have been awesome. Hopefully the other ones further down the list step up to be awesome too. And the ones we draft this summer, hopefully they're awesomer.

I just read that Wedge has made the try-out squad for the wjc. I would to cart-wheels if he makes the team. If he brings his A game he can to it. Go Wedge.

It's great to see our prospects progressing and graduating at such a rapid pace. The next Top 20 will definitely have a different feel to it with so many graduations.

And my boy Corrente gets higher by default

It's a shame he can't stay healthy

I know grades and all that on HF aren't really that important nor neither are they always an indications of how a prospect will turn out. However, I'm curious if you even know considering the start Henrique's had consider him as a 6.5B?

Ya, I think it's clear by now that he's outperformed that grade. He's a legit top 6 forward from what he's shown so far.

Thank god for that too, we sure needed the offensive help. That Palmieri is ahead of Henrique on the list is kind of laughable now too.

However no one really could of predicted the start he's had.

anyone have a list of all the draft picks we have and the picks we have aquired from trades for the 2012 draft? Don't we have like three 2nd round picks this coming draft year?

We have 10 at the moment, afaik. Two second round picks. Additonal 4th round pick (Steckel to TML) and 5th round pick (PL3? to Calgary) and 2nd round pick (Arnott to Washington).

To put it simply, I underestimated his offense. I had him pegged as a 2nd/3rd line tweener. He's vastly surpassed my expectations for him and there is nothing wrong with that!

Absolutely. when he was drafted he hadn't shown exactly how much offense he could bring. Hell, until his last year in junior he hadn't put together anything beyond a "good" season. 09-10, though after 77 points in 54 games in the regular season he exploded for 20 goals in 19 games in the playoffs. Even then, there was the Taylor hall factor, though.

His rookie year in Albany was a revelation.

He'd be a 10A on the Rangers lists. They overrate their prospects in every ranking. Jared is not that giving. He actually tapers our prospect ranking.

I think everyone really did expect him to top out as a third liner when he was drafted, and when he broke out in juniors, most people assumed that Hall was carrying him, or couldn't tell if he was good in his own right. So I don't blame anybody for keeping his rating low.

Pretty much that was the case. I`m just happy we drafted him. Now hopefully he can help us for years to come. C/RW is one of our biggest weaknesses.

Rangers prospect Jesper Fasth (157th overall 2010, HV71, SEL) breaks his foot during the game.

Hard to watch.
