Lots of talk about Wedgewood potentially being the go-to guy for Canada in the nets after Visentin's struggles in the game against Sweden last night, or at least having the two split the round robin games. I for one have never been sold on Visentin. This type of tournament is exactly where a guy like Wedgewood could take the reins and show his clutch, big game capability.
Ditto. I really hope he can steal the job and has a good showing. That`d definitely help him moving forward.
What do you think Wedgewood does next year is he turning pro and playing for albany?
For whatever reason, Frazee was given a two-year extension. So unless Kinkaid (I assume it won't be Frazee) starts backing up Brodeur next season, there might not be any room in Albany for another goalie.

I believe this is Wedgewood's last year of Junior eligibility so it's possible he could move up to Albany next year and coud split time with Frazee while Kincaid sees action at the NHL level. If Fraze don;t cut it and Clermont steps up, could see a flip flop with Kalamazoo.
I think it's obvious that Frazee is not in the Devils NHL plans at this point.
He may be kept around for a few years as a valuable AHL netminder with experience though.
Wedgewood and Kinkaid will need to get a lot of starts next season to continue their development.
A lot will depend on what Marty decides to do at the conclusion of this season.
If Marty decides to retire, I think Moose is very happy here in NJ and he will jump at the chance to stay another year and possibly in a role that we saw Weekes take when the Rags broke in Lundy in his rookie season.
**Not to say Wedgewood or Kinkaid are on that level of Lundy, it remains to be seen, but in a similar situation.
Of course if Marty chooses to play another season, he may take that role and Moose will leave or we may see both back in NJ and Wedge and Kinkaid splitting the starts in Albany.
Wedgewood 26 save shutout in canadas 5-0 win over czech and a beautiful assist from goal line to opposite blue line http://watch.tsn.ca/clip592419#clip592419 from the WJC thread
I know it's absolutely pointless to start hyping Wedgewood after one game, especially playing behind such a stacked team, but DEAR LORD THAT ASSIST. I want a new a Brodeur!

I continue to keep tabs on a Devils' 1st round bust, who in the last two seasons has really stepped up his game, even moreso this year, which includes a mid-season move from SM-Liiga (Finland) to the KHL. He signed for two seasons with the Metallurg, so my hopes of him at long last becoming a Devil will have to wait until at least 2013-14 (unless I'm wrong?), in any case, I give you...once again:

Ari has racked up 9 straight wins since starting 3-3 w/ Metallurg Magnitogorsk. Also, don't ignore his earlier part of the season w/ KalPa. Maybe like some other Goalies, he's a late bloomer.
P.S. I see Petr Vrana (still Devs property) shown there with a PPG season, not bad, but of course it's not the NHL.
