Malkin 1st assist for Magnitogorsk

I was checking out Dynamo's site, and they had just played Magnitogorsk. Magnitogorsk won, 2 - 1, and Malkin had the first assist for Magnitogorsk's first goal. Just figured I'd pass it on.

Banana-worthy in my book.

Just one though. When he gets his first goal I'll give him 2.

hockeydb.com struck gold and are now updating Russian Super League stats daily, as apposed to just when the season is over. Malkin has been centering Magnitogorsk's top line and has 2 assists in 7 games so far.

Hopefully he can get Petr Sykora on his wing.

Also Malkin was named in three stars of the game with Ovechkin and Gladskih. I saw this game and Imo, in this game, Malkin looks better than Ovechkin.

The Pens are slowly but surely putting a hell of a team together. Fluery, Malkin, Whitney, Orpik. And you know a prospect or two will suprise.

Malkin vs Ovechkin duel by episodes http://www.metallurg.ru/news/12750/

And translate by translate.ru http://www.translate.ru/url/tran_url...1&psubmit2.y=8

Imo. it's not so bad translate.

Just FYI. "washer" = puck, "pjatachok" = slot, "folit" = takes a penalty, "owners" = home team (Metallurg, in this game), "shot/ throw from brushes" = wrist shot, "on a platform" = on the ice, "dinamovets" = Dynamo player, "uralets/magnitogorets" = Metallurg Mg player.

0 goals 2 assists in 7 games doesn't seem that impressive. for someone who sees him regularly, does he look good so far despite his stats?

For an 18 year old, it's not bad.

"Malkin jumps out in private with the goalkeeper, but has not time to process a washer."

"These young forwards also have made weather in a persistent duel"

"When "steelmakers" in the majority, Malkin constantly on a platform. What throw! In one contact, from a knee! Eremenko hardly pulls out a washer."

RSL stats are very misleading for young players. Kovalev had i think 1 assist in his draft year. It may have even been his post-draft year, I can't remember. Even Koltsov's low numbers had some worrying, but I think he put up very good rookie numbers this year.

You have to consider more than just his stats. Here's a kid that was their 3rd/4th line center for most of last season, and since preseason he's been their #1 centerman. He's playing with Magnitogorsk's top two scorers of last season as his wingers. One of the two is the team captain. He was dominant in competitive preseason tournaments and appears to be, if nothing else, solid to start the regular season.

More than the stats, the fact that Malkin's already being given the responsibility of centering the #1 line says quite a bit. This is incredible experience he is getting.

18 years old AND in a low scoring league which doesnt credit players for the second assist which COULD increase his numbers greatly.

i'm not too worried about the stats, but rsl does actually give for secondary assists. it's been like that for years now.

0g 2a in 9 games now, he's going slower than he was last season.

Early days yet, but I hope he hasn't been cut from the first line because of his lack of production.

Malkin's relative lack of scoring has alot to do with his small bones.

And his drug habit. He's probably also worried about those bribes he took.

These are facts.

Don't forget the fact that he's a punch-drunk vegetable.
