Not sure. Us Buffalo fans never catch wind of a trade before it actually happens because Regier and co are so tight-lipped. These are uncharted waters, I'm not sure what to do!!!!!

Apparently they sent a scout to a recent Amerks game, too:

With Bobby Ryan on block and rumors of #Ducks- #Sabres chatting, let's add a log to fire: Anaheim scout Jim Pappin at recent #Amerk game.

Ennis, Stafford and a 1st is crap for Getzlaf. Youd probably have to add in Kassian or McNabb too.

People might be reading too far into this. Syracuse is their farm club, Pappin played for the Amerks growing up... There could be many reasons why he was at the game.

Like the fact that scouts from multiple teams are at every single game because it's their job.

Meh. That could be, but when you couple it with the fact that Ducks scouts were in Buffalo last night, I'd say in all likelihood he was scouting the farm for this potential trade.

Trade may not even happen. But it's exciting to track nonetheless.

Oklobzija also stated that scouts from at least 15 teams have been to Amerks games this month. As jfb stated, it is their job after all.

Dunno how legit this is, but:

I imagine nothing happens until after the ducks game tonight. If anything happens that is.

Eh. He's since backtracked to the typical "end of the week" talk.

And I have no idea how the Rangers are "frontrunners" here without putting McDonaugh into the mix. Dubinsky isn't a center either, makes less than Stafford and has been consistently less productive. Is Erixon really that big of a deal?

No kidding. I laughed when I heard their (lengthy) list of untouchables (Derek Stepan is on the list!), which is pretty much their top-6 forwards besides Dubi and their entire top-4 defensemen. What's their package?

Dubi
Erixon
2012 1st

?

Are they not concerned about Erixon screwing over Calgary?

Just put Roy on the table with a D prospect, change the culture of the forwards and hope that Pominville/Ryan/Leino can actually switch to center or that you can get someone like Stoll or Nielsen at the deadline.

One step closer to Darcy's dream of icing an entire forward corps consisting of only wingers.

I don't understand why Sather is going away from the strategy that's worked so well for the Rangers post-lockout.

e: supposedly

Well, no mention of Sabres in the last tweet I saw ? The Philly guy.

For now it's all just speculation and hearsay; I can't help but feel like management can't make it happen quite yet.

If it is indeed, imminent, I would expect Ryan to be a scratch from tonight's lineup.

Exactly. Game is at 10, scratches announced at like 9:45. I expect him to be in the lineup though.

Could Buffalo be working a three-way deal here with say Anaheim and the Rangers? Each side gets something with Ryan landing in NYC?

So we ARE getting Brad Richards!

edit: Maybe we'll get Callahan out of the deal...he's a Rochester native.
