Bad news from the Frankfurt Lions Injury News Ticker Dan ... Young has a torn ligament out up to 4 weeks, Armstrong will miss tonights game also and at least even Lebeau is out with an upper body injury.

So Steve Kelly will be captain tonight and can finally show what he is made of ... He will center 1st line with Taylor and Ulmer as he will the 3rd with Danner and Krestan.

Derbytime ... GO LIONS !!!!!

Well well, look at that (only in German):

Quote:

coming from www.del.org

Better than before, although I don't really know whether "Diese doppelte Kleine Strafe wird dann durch die automatische Disziplinarstrafe ergänzt" means 2+2+10 or 2+2+game misconduct.

Increase of fights ... if it means sth. like that - bring it on!

edit: but lets wait and see how our semi-professional refrs will handle it ... you'll know what I mean

Some interesting result today. The first three games were especially surprising (until * happened), didn't expect Mannheim to beat Frankfurt that cleanly as well.

Straubing - Ingolstadt 2-1
Iserlohn - Düsseldorf 5-1
Nürnberg - Duisburg 4-2 *(talk about bad luck, Duisburg had a goal disallowed and got scored on right after to make it 4-2 instead of 3-3)
Mannheim - Frankfurt 3-0
Krefeld - Berlin 1-3
Augsburg - Hamburg 2-3

Not only did Düsseldorf get destroyed by Iserlohn, they also lost Kreutzer to what might be a broken leg and Stephens with a GM or match penalty.

I like that the DEL has finally highlights online, but could they please let the user choose the videos?
I already watched the trailer and the Cologne-Hanover game, I don't want to watch them again before I finally can see Mannheim-Frankfurt.

Mr. Looker handled it properly in Iserlohn, while Reichert clearly disregarded the rule by penalizing Bassen and Jaspers with game-misconducts.
At least, we had more fights at the first game-day than at the whole season 2005/2006.

Although not everyone agrees that Bassen and Jaspers behaved accordingly to the new rules, thus making the 2+2 impossible to be used by the ref.

I didn't see it, so I won't comment on it

So I'm guessing Tutschek didn't get a contract from Ingolstadt? Also, did Brad Purdie retire? And what's going on with Jeff Shantz and John Tripp for Mannheim? Are they still on the roster?

Shantz is injured and hasn't been licensed yet, Purdie is injured as well.

Tripp has personal problems, his contract was frozen until he can play again.

Tutschek went back to his university and he will graduate in november.Till november,he will play for an university team and after graduation he will come back and if he gets his German passport,he will play the rest of the season for Ingolstadt.

I don't remember the last time Hamburg was this dangerous, apart from the homegames against Kassel, that is.

Straubing was completely asleep in the first period and while they were more aggressive and better defensively in the rest of the game, they weren't really dangerous.

Hamburg, on the other hand, could have easily won twice as high. Especially the first period was pretty much a run on Straubings goal, the Freezers were firing shots from all over the place and hardly lost the puck.
I doubt that they will be able to keep that pace against better opponents, but it shows that this team is capable of outgunning everyone, if the opponent isn't careful enough on defense.

Does anybody know whether Marco and Sören Sturm are related in some way?

Sören is 11 years younger and was born in Nordrhine-Westphalia while Marco was born in Bavaria, but they kind of look like each other:

Here's another one that came out of nowhere... former Mannheim Eagle Jason Podollan is suddenly at Red Wings camp.

I am no Duisburg fan, but I am watching tonight's game against the Cologne Sharks at the moment. Duisburg is weak to say the least. Allowing 6 goals in a single period on home ice is very bad!
Furthermore Szuper hasn't had his best day tonight. Seven minutes in the second period, he had to leave the goal after allowing four goals. Especially the fourth goal was a soft goal. Goals 1 and 2 weren't his mistakes, but he should work in his positioning, since he tends to open the blocker side widely.
