That or you don't believe anything the organization does anymore. Let's call it like it is: The Islanders would be defected to the minor leagues in Europe if this was a soccer league, that's how pathetic they are.

You wonder what made Tavares sign long term, because I don't see the light at all for the Islanders.

I mean, they are 4 years away from moving to Kansas City, it couldn't be more obvious. Their own residents voted NO to keeping them here, so if that's not a strong message, what is?

The owner just came out the other day and said, and ladies and gentlemen, I kid you ****ing not:

"Hey, it's not like we're getting killed out there. We will make mistakes, it happens."

What does it matter if the Isles are always last? It's not like they're getting killed!

ARE YOU KIDDING?

I don't think we want him here either...but thats just me

As for the NYI: Once Trottier (the poster) left, I figure anyone else has the right too. That guy was a long-suffering diehard as well.
Wondering what happened to him. Haven't seen that username in a long time

He's a Devils fan now. He's on their board most of the time. Also keeps weird hours, so he's not always on at normal times of day.

Ah we are dating ourselves here, but good times. Wasn't that right around the time Palmateer came over? That's when I fell in love with the team. That cheesy (cool at the time) commercial. We had just moved from upstate NY and I had been a Bruins fan. Didn't know much about the Caps and remember seeing that commercial and thinking "hey I should watch a Caps game". I remember Palmateer winning his first game with us and I was hooked.

Trottier went to the Devils? That's like if you became a Hurricanes fan. Weird.

The owner fires anyone who talks bad about the organization, replaces them with losers in every capacity.

The Isles promote AHL coaches. They don't have ANY NHL experience in the organization except for Doug Weight. They fired Trottier because he was too much of an NHL good guy.

They promote backup goaltenders instead of hiring ANY GM with experience.

They sign goaltenders for life when they accomplish nothing.

They use rookie bonuses to reach the cap FLOOR, damaging all quality potential in their young guys - although these same kids are expected to save the future.

They are headed for another lotterty finish, where the previous 4 of them did nothing for the organization.

There is nothing positive on Long Island to look forward too, so nobody should be telling ME what I should, or should not, be doing.

Plus, I just graduated so I'm moving off of that decrepit, disgusting Long island anyways.

In with the new, out with the old. And I don't regret my decision AT ALL. So leave me be.
You realize the Caps haven't hired a coach with prior NHL experience since 1998, right?

Not blasting you or your decision, just pointing out something that struck me as humorous.

Big fan of Lamoriello and sound management, I believe, which sort of makes sense since he's coming from Islanders fandom. Of course, the rumors are starting that Lamoriello is nearing retirement, so who knows what happens when that day comes.

Nothing positive... really? Tavares isn't positive...?

Things always get better, I have been with the same team longer than you... there was a time when my team was run by a senile old man who traded away Russ Courtnall (a sniper) for John Kordic (a fighter who maybe scored 1 goal his whole career), a team who traded away the rights to their draft selection that turned out to be a #1 because they sucked so bad that year to th New Jersey Devils for a defenceman named Tom Kurvers. Who did New Jersey draft with that selection... Scott Neidermayer.

Even though it seems hopeless the things that have happened, it will always get better. In the early 90's on a few short years after that Niedermayer mess, the Leafs went to Game 7 one away from the Stanley Cup final, sure they went up and down and then in the past few years down again and a rebuild but look at them now they beat the Caps 7-1 this year (sorry had to mention that) and are a good team with 2 of the top players in the league this year. Things always get better...

I just find jumping ship when times get bad is weak, sorry man... I tell it like it is. If the Islanders finish dead last this year and draft the amazing Nail Yakupov are you going to jump ship back?

It's like those people who came out of the woodwork when the Blackhawks won the cup a few years ago, nothing bugs me more when people who join a team or start waving the flag once they win.

I waved my flag in the darkest of times.

Yeah but it sure does look like the Islanders won't be on LI in the near future. I would never support a team that left like that. For instance there aren't too many Baltimore Colts fans that followed their team after the move ..but they left overnite with little warning from what I can remember.

If I suspected the Caps were moving to Hamilton 4 years from now I would start shopping for a new team and would loathe the team and ownership. This is especially true for Islander fans who had to deal with the two headed monster of Milbury/Wang.

While I happen to agree with that to some extent, I think it might be about the residual aura about the guy and the Cups. I didn't start following them. Don't know.

You remind me of some of those political ideologies that threaten to move out of the US if the person "they" want for President isn't elected. No loyalty to the country, it's all about what "they" think is best and who "they" want.

I suspect you're a Packers fan now too.

He's an immigrant looking for a better life. Of course with the Caps he will be cleaning toilets for a while, but maybe his children will prosper.

The Islanders are actually a disease on Long Island. Not a hockey team.
Well, they DO have four Cups while the Caps have a big fat goose egg. Maybe we should hope that LI disease spreads to DC...........

It's amazing how many Isles fans are getting bent of shape with this. We didn't all go nuts when gloves jumped ship.

One of the best GTD ever.

Also that's cause he flooded the market with Caps gear when he quit. So prices dropped.

After they beat the Titans in their second regular season matchup I was hooked.

Followed them for the rest of the year and was able to live vicariously through them through the playoffs. Even skipped parts of my high school football banquet to go to the bar and watch the Ravens-Titans playoff matchup. Then the Skins hired Spurrier and I got right back on the Skins bandwagon but kept the Ravens as my other team. Still kind of do but not with even close to the amount of time I spend following the Skins.

Back in 2000 I could name almost every player on that Ravens roster. Today the only reason I know who Chris Chester is, is because he signed with the Redskins. I barely know any of their starters yet I could name you most of the practice squad for the Redskins. If I only I had stayed on the bandwagon.

Still good for your cousin. Long and happy football life for that one.
i hope this is the year

Most definitely. The guys that I couldn't remember off the top of my head but knew of as soon as they were announced were Kim Herring and Duane Starks. The other 9 guys were easy to name (McCreary, Adams, Goose, Burnett, Lewis, Sharper, Boulware, McAlister, Woodson). In my mind they're easily the best one year defense in the history of the modern era right ahead of the 85 Bears and the 76 Steelers.
