So is the beer over there. And barley. And hops too but just those 3.

We only stayed in the HofBrau tent. We had to get in there at about noon and stayed until 10. It was packed. We were lucky to get a table at noon. The beer was so good. The beer here tastes like goat piss.

people that dismiss all beer over here as water aren't trying hard enough. 10 years ago you might be able to say that but there are plenty of microbrews here now that hold their own with Germany. the key is that the people running them (as they do and have done in Germany this whole time) really care about the product for the products sake first, not for how marketable it is to the masses.

HofBrau is where we spent the majority of our time too. 2 months prior we reserved two tables up in the balcony. Came with complimentary beer and half off of lunch. Me and another girl in our party stood up on the table and pounded beers together. Was pretty awesome seeing thousands of people cheer you on.

We hit up Spaten and Paulaner as well. I love Paulaner beer, especially their heffeweisen. Munich is such a beautiful city, loved my time there.

ryn makes a good point though, there are lots of awesome microbrews here in the states that produce some good beers. There are even some bars around here (Liquor Lyles of all places) that have some of the German beers on tap. Went there last winter and they had HofBrau Dunkel on tap. Friggin sweet.

Meh sometimes things like Coors Light are necessary....never a reason to feel bad about it...unless you have enough money to care.

Yep... I get called a beer snob a lot... but when the plan is to start drinking at noon I stick to miller light... drink all day and only get to buzzed.

Didn't we have some kind of "Pickup/Beer League Hockey" thread for MN players in here? Swore I seen something before and I can't find it.

Awesome Saturday.

Surly Darkness Days in AM. Then headed over to Northbound Smokehouse. Great new place with very good food. I was there before and had the Big Jim but they're having trouble keeping up with the demand so they didn't have any yesterday. It's a fantastic beer in the mold of Masala Mama, but since it was out I went with their Light Rail Pale Ale. Good stuff. Then we headed over to Town Hall to catch the tail end of their Anniversary Week. Their 15 Year IPA (Double IPA) was just awesome. And of course so is their Eye of the Storm and Three Hour Tour. Then across the street to RePUBlic, which I'm a big fan of given their selection.

I would suggest trying Franziskaner. It's absolutely delicious. Must be drank in a glass though. Wheat settles on the bottom and such.

Very good stuff. Also, anyone planning on going to Town Hall anytime soon, they've got Mango Mama on tap.

What do Minnesotans think of Surly Brewing?

I have a very bad habit of picking up some whenever I'm down south in the Cities.
