Yeah, that's a pretty common drink here.

Oh ok, I thought it was a Finnish thing, as it reminds me a bit of salmiakki (salty liquorice). It's probably the best thing you can drink besides beer.

My favorite drinks are: martini(classic and vesper), manhattan, and an old fashioned(generally whiskey old fashioned, but I like brandy old fashioners as well).

I don't remember the price, but years ago I had a bottle of 100 Años tequila. I recall that being pretty good. I guess, if I'm taking shots of tequila, I'm okay with spending a bit more money....bad tequila is baaaaad.

I agree with margaritas, though. Dirt cheap tequila for that is A-OK.

From an American point of view, it goes down a heck of a lot easier than salmiakki, though.

Ha, thought so. Have you tried salmiakkikossu?

Not to mention salmiakki hangovers. I mean, if you thought tequila mornings were bad, oh boy...

It's great, but the feeling next morning is so bad, you're afraid you won't die.

I *won't* purposely go so far as to get a hangover, but at some point in time, I will try this stuff.

Oh yeah, we call them jäger bombs. Red bull with 1 shot of jäger in the middle. I even have a set of shot glasses with Jagr's face on them specifically for these drinks.

Regarding Jager bombs, the mix of energy drink + alcohol is disastrous for me. On my 22nd birthday (Feb 1st) my friends wanted to get me plowed. I showed up to my college's hockey game after pounding some energy drink with vodka (Svedka), mixed up a huge bottle of rum and diet coke (Think 1.25 L bottle of DC, drink it down to about label, fill with Sailor Jerry's Spiced Rum). After the game, I went back to my friend's place where they encouraged me to do several Jager bombs.

I don't remember much of the night, and I'm not exactly proud of what happened.

Can't remember. But I doubt it. Maybe I'll remember if I just get high.

The best jäger-drink is the one with 8cl of whisky, 4cl of jäger and a splash of coke in it.

Know I've said it before, but 1oz ginger ale and 1oz of cherry vodka is tremendous. Sweet enough for the ladies, hard enough for the fellas. Easy to drink and the aftertaste is great. Figured this out when the supplies were limited whilst snowed in with the gal in college. Try it and tell me I'm wrong.

Jäger bombs? Oh dear lord no. Never again.

Next time when you're drinking, you've got to try the "uppopommi" (depth charge). A big glass of beer with a shot of whiskey dropped into the glass. It's supposed to be drank without stopping in the middle.

I don't want to brag, but I'm a rare breed in terms of actually being able to pull that off. The bitterness of the beer plus the whiskey mixed in make it an... interesting experience.

If you really want to be masochistic, replace half of the whiskey in the shot with cream liquor.

I'm familiar with the depth charges. Never done one though. And your comment about the whiskey sounds like an Irish Car Bomb. A St. Patty's day favorite.

Ahh yes, the old Irish car bomb; some Guinness with a shot of Bailey's and Jameson. With those you have no choice but to drink it fast because it will start to curdle after a few seconds.
