Outclassed

The Good -

- Watching Detroit skate and pass. Very impressive.
- McNabb bringing some physical on the back end.
- Kassian had a solid game.
- Hecht with a nice play on the only goal

The Bad -

- The first line most of the night. Mistakes and bad penalties, leading to two goals against.
- D-zone coverage remains a concern with guys getting open looks in prime scoring positions.

The Ugly -

- Seeing Gerbe take a skate to the face. Frightening.
- Another home loss.

But we played a good, last 40 minutes!

That's what we will hear in the locker room in post game interviews. (no sarcasm)

Ugly:
-The first period. Nothing good about it.

Bad:
-Enroth looked shaky all night. Had help from his posts and some fortunate bounces. Close the five hole.
-Sekera was not good, I thought.
-Lack of finish. We had a lot of quality chances and nobody could finish.
-The first line's first period.
-Grags.

Good:
-The Detroit Red Wings organization. World class for years. Well done.

Fire Lindy, send down Finley for Brennen or Schiestel. That is all.

I love how Pominville was smiling even though his team is getting embarrassed.

Not even going to commit on that abomination, just seems like we can't do anything right.

Gragnani getting schooled by Filppula like the overweight 55yr old in a low level mens league was a sorry sight.

Two softies from Enroth. He needs to work on his 5 hole A LOT

G-
The hockey clinic ended, Sabres learned a lot
McNabb is a pretty solid prospect, looking forward to his improvement so he can make the team next season
Finley's first game was fine, send him back to the Amerks after tomorrow to ferment
After the first, Enroth looked better

B-
Too many games, like this, they play passionless
Not enough puck support
Not enough O zone pressure
Shot and pass selection not smart

U-
Gerbe injury..... Ouch!

Vanek's demeanor in his post-game interview spoke more about his thoughts than his words did.

He's pissed.

Vanek blunt. Good. Nothing about "oh, we played good for two periods" crap.

Abdelkader did not return after McNabb tattooed him. Possible concussion?

Absolutely. Regehr, even better. "That's what a top team in this league looks like."

wtf is wrong with Derek Roy. He's on pace for 52 points. He should be a 70 point player every year. I hate his game right now. And ****ing Drew Stafford needs to start finding the back of the net.

Good

More regulars on offense
getting ennis back and his western canadian rodeo
kassian picked the team up on a few shifts.
hecht was the best player for us
howard was exceptional
roy seemed to be the catalyst for turning the game around
mcnabb turned it up.
leino continues to be one of the teams hardest skaters

Bad

I wonder what Pominville's mean fiery captain side is like?
The powerplay does not have the right bounce. leino-adam is too confusing.
sekera continues to not use his speed
a few unlucky calls on roy
lack of hitting. i realize that we are injured.

Chemistry extra

stafford needs vanek
pominville needs adam

Bonus

kassian should be watching hecht's game

Brennan's got the flu and didn't play for the Amerks either. That's why Finley got the call and not TJ.

G: Vanek - in spite of give away pass, seemed to be the only talent that can compete with the Wings. Appreciated the back check. Ref could have let that minor neck wrap go
Hecht - other than the give awful give away, got us on the board
Kassian - smart, tough, his play broke Gerbe free, earned another couple of games with the majors
McNabb - like the hits and his potential (amazed to see #81 actaully playing defense.... Miroslav!:-)

B: Grags - KHL is calling.... can we take up a collection for the airfare?
Roy - I'm getting tired of his play
Gerbe -sorry about the coming dental work and liked the breakaway but you were fighting unknown demons all night

U: Gaustad - skate to Gerbes kisser is his only highlight
Buffalo PP - just terrible
Ruff: has no answers...not sure he knows the questions either

MIA: Earth to Drew Stafford, are you in this universe or the next one

Honorable mention:
Enroth - for mental discipline in tough circumstances
Ennis - nice to see his speed back in the line up
Finley - for giving it the old school try

I've felt for a while now that he should have the c. I'd even be down for co-captains. I'm not in the room, but this team is just as much his as it is Pominville's.

The complimentary members of the core on this team needs a shakeup. Staff and Roy come to mind instantly.

Add to the Ugly: Skate blade. Gerbe's nose. Nasty.
