Per Kings twitter: Both Richards and Mitchell expected to miss a couple games.

Both sound pretty minor. Of course, things can change, but at least it's not something where they say "They'll be out a while".

Mike Richards will go on injured reserve tomorrow, meaning he will be out at least seven days. Willie Mitchell will not go on injured reserve, but Terry Murray said he fears Mitchell will miss multiple games.

Damnit, I would've thought it'd be the other way around with Mitchell going to IR instead of Richards. Hurts to lose Mitchell for a couple games but we need Richards more at this point.

That's three games, right? As much as it will hurt the team, what if it was a knee or something that required surgery? That would be devastating.

As much as he's sacrificed and bled for this team for the first 2 dozen games, they can man up and get thru these three.

Just don't take any penalties...please...he's the top PK'er.

Looking at the schedule, after the Montreal game on Sat, the Kings have three games next week against Anaheim on Tuesday, Minnesota on Thursday, and they travel to Dallas next Saturday.

Better to get him some rest and make sure he's 100% and ready to go before rushing him back into the lineup, especially with games against teams that are not known for their offense.

I looked at the hit a few times, to me it looked like his wrist got some of the contact which hand was it he got the surgery done to?

Richards has been nails for the Kings especially lately. I just want him back at 100%. No need to take chances. It's time for some of the other forwards to rise to the occasion.

They do not travel to Dallas. Their next game in Dallas will be in February. That game is in LA.

I agree with keeping Richards out until he's 100%. No sense is risking his future with the club. Now would be a great time for Kopi to break out of his mini slump and get some offense going. We need him to.

I wouldn't be surprised if the forearm to his head at the end of the scrum made things worse. Hope it's not serious and can come back in a week.

Hopefully Richards and Mitchell are back in time for the road trip coming up. Our next games are against Montreal, Anaheim, Minnesota, and Dallas before the road trip. Hoping for 6 points.

Not to belittle Mitchell's injury, but losing Richards is probably the biggest blow to our team. There's no replacement for a Richards.

Having said that, I do believe we have enough to get by for awhile if TM utilizes our roster properly.

However, looking at our lineup, I'm not so sure.

As much **** that I give Murray, his style is well designed for injuries. Since everyone plays the same, the players are interchangeable. I don't expect the Kings to fall down from their 2 goals per game. It's just a question of if Bernier and Quick can keep the other team from getting 3 regulations goals.

I know the Kings struggled without Mitchell last season, but I think Voynov has shown that he is a legit NHL defenseman. He hits, can skate and shoots. He's a smart player, let's see if he can get Johnson some "+'s".

It's the Goals Against I'm more concerned with, since Richards is their best defensive forward and has been outstanding in the DZ (So muich so he was ranked 2nd in the league at the quarter mark against top competition) .

he's got such great instincts and reads the lanes and traffic pattersn so well, and reacts, it does take off the tension most of the time. Thats some HUGE skates to fill.
That will be a problem...hopefully one that doesn't last beyond 3 to 4 games.
