They still cycled somewhat regularly in the Olympics (although nowhere near as much as in Anaheim). Given their size, strength and puckhandling ability it is a strength of theirs but I can see how it got old doing it all the time.

4-2 Ducks. Ryan, Selanne, Fowler and Perry with the goals.

I think they played like that in juniors too. I think Carlyle also would complain that they did it too much without shooting to the newspapers.

So I would say that's their natural style.

I don't think they'd do well in a run and gun system.

The words "cycle the puck less" are music, baby. No more hockey in circles. Cautiously optimistic that The F Bomb can make better use of our size, speed and talent than we've seen so far this season.

My 11-year-old son and I are ditching a family function to stay home and watch this game tonight. Surely the Ducks can reward us for that sacrifice with two points.

I think RPG will still cycle as they're really good at it. What I hope to see less of is the dump and chase at all costs which NECESSITATES a constant cycle every time down the ice. These guys are more than good enough than needing to intentionally lose the puck and need to get it back playing defense on 3/4 of the line changes.

I don't mind if RPG cycles as long as they go to the net at some point instead of circling around the perimetre all day long.

I agree. Hopefully they do try and create more off the rush as opposed to dumping it in every single time.

Carry the puck in? what is that? haven't seen that all season.

I like BB throwing Beleskey on 2nd line to fill the Blake role of forechecking guy, maybe Matt can re-find himself with Carlyle gone.

Also like the third line, but we'll see what works. I want to see Holland and Palmieri up, maybe even Jacques to.

Looking forward to the game.

Despite their recent losing tendencies I have pretty much enjoyed watching the Ducks just as much as the Bruins lately.

Maybe cause I expect the Bruins to win, whereas with the Ducks its more of a surprise haha

Go Ducks

Good point Paul. In ANY sport, one of your greatest allies is unpredictability. RC and other old, stubborn coaches(aka Lindy Ruff) stick to their systems like they're the gospel. Doesn't work anymore. Just like a one dimensional passing team in football will fail, so will a 1 dimensional hockey team. It seems BB at least understands this, even if he can't implement it. Hopefully my injured Sabres can beat the dreaded wings(or at least goon them up), and then onto the new Duck era!

wait what.. belesky is thrown on the 2nd line.. seirously.. so the ONLY consistent line we've had working since blake went down is being torn up?

It can be re-assembled at the drop of a hat, too. Let the new coach work his stuff.

Getzlaf and Perry both have 11 points in their last 9 games. I don't get why he's weakening the 2nd line either but the top line has been starting to show up again.

Maybe he wants a forechecking presence on the line? Or perhaps he is buying time til we can get a real 3rd line center up?(HOLLAND PLZ)

ALSO DVM, that's funny about Getzlaf, that guy can play like total trash and still get 2 points in a game, why must he be so talented that it makes him lazy?

Looking forward to seeing if he can continue the renewed spirit he showed last game

I have no idea, hopefully he was just sick of being yelled at and can go on a tear here. No reason for him to not be an Art Ross contender every year.

Fun fact - Perry has another game like Wednesday and he's top 13 in points, 1 point under PPG and is currently only 5G back from the league leader after scoring 5G in his last 6 games - keep it up!
