Tim Gleason
Bryan Allen
Hal Gill
Jaroslav Spacek
Francois Beauchemain
Filip Kuba
Corey Sarich
Jeff Finger
Willie Mitchell
Mark Eaton
Andy Sutton
Shaone Morrison
They are all UFA's after this season.
Gleason and Beacuheman will probably cost too much. Allen, Gill and Spacek might be affordable options. Mitchell won't be dealt, IMO. The rest aren't worth giving up anything but lower prospects or very low draft picks for.

Good thinking. Sutton could probably be had for a song the way he keeps getting suspended. Sarich and Gill also intrigue me. I like Gill. He's big and he's gone the distance before. Using him as a 5/6 guy might not hurt if the price is right b

So if Eminger's out 8-10, and Sauer's out indefinitely, and Staal's still a ways away, imo they need to make a move. You can't survive an extended period of time with Stralman, Woywitka, and now Erixon on defense. It helps with Lundqvist back there, but if you can get some veteran help on the back end with out paying king's ransom I'm all for it.

The problem becomes the fact that teams know the Rangers are in a bad spot so they will ask for a lot. I would be okay with McCabe if he is in shape. He is a decent bottom-pairing vet who could take some PP time away from Girardi or McDonagh.

they have 15 F on the roster......move one or two for a Dman..plus Zuccarello is a trade piece
Colin White's not a Woywitka. He's more physcial and tougher, Woywitka isn't.
White has been terrible for San Jose. Got completely embarassed by Jordan Eberle the other night. He's just as slow as Woywitka, but he's older, less durable, and not nearly as good at handling the puck (if that were even possible).
The Rangers are currently playing their #8 defenseman in their top-4. I would say adding (2) #7's would be an upgrade right now.
Stralman has been better than a #7.
If they're going to get a "#7" defenseman, they'll probably take a look at the waiver wire. If they make trade, they'll probably look for a player closer to #5/#4 territory.

Yes, but he is not more than a #6/7 on most teams. All he needed was a chance to play and get his feet under him.
Eminger has looked like a very solid #4/5 but he is still a #6/7 IMO.
John Scott? Colin White? Sheldon Brookbank? Aaaron Rome?
They're another Woywitka, this team, if it makes a trade, needs a steady 15 minute + defenseman. Those guys are barely 7th defenseman...

Colin White is worse than Woywitka at this point. He is unbelievably slow. Might as well have a giant cone on the ice.
The majority guys Orr Nightmare listed are slow-footed, or past their prime, or just physical with nothing much else to their game.
We don't need any of that.

Really? Because I strongly believe Wolskii and Yogan would offset Kostitsyn. And EC is easily more valuable and useful than Hal "slow as ****" Gill. I don't Hal Gill by any stretch of the means. I dont believe Kostitsyn, considering what you're giving up, makes us that much better. Looks more like a lateral move.
For D, it's Tim Gleason or bust. I just don't see any other names currently out there that impress me. All are too slow and pathetic. It's great that some are physical but it means nothing if they can't keep up with the fast paced teams in the East that we compete with.
I'd be interested in Spacek and Beauchemain as well but my mind is made up on Gleason as the number one target. American too, fits right in with the mold here.

Wolski is ****, Yogan is a marginal prospect. Kostitsyn is a 2nd liner. EC has no value while several teams would give mid round picks for Gill. We'd be very lucky to get a 7th for EC.
