......

you guessed it.

The 1993-94 New York Rangers accumulated 32 points in their first 22 games with a record of 15-5-2.

The 2011-12 New York Rangers have accumulated 31 points in their first 22 games with a record of 14-5-3.

Awesome. I love how all the people on the main boards say we always start hot like this and we are going to collapse. The starts we had in the past few years were nothing like this and I don't see any signs of us collapsing soon. It's possible we slow down, but I don't think we will collapse.

Least regulation losses in the entire NHL, the highest winning percentage in the entire NHL and are tied for second or third, point-wise in the NHL, with a few games in hand on every single team that is either tied or ahead of us. We are only 3 points back from the most points in the NHL, with 4 games in hand on the leading team. Who would have thought? Hopefully we can keep this going.

To be fair we also got a SO point against Anaheim. Also how was OT played then? 5 on 5? With no loser points? Because we lost one game in OT that didn't get to the shootout and thus wouldn't have been a tie.

OT was 5 on 5, and if no one scored, the game was a tie. Both teams got a point in a tie game.

And if a team lost in OT, they got no points.

Unbelievable....nothing going on last night in local sports besides the Rangers win and they put Chris Paul on the back page.

No respect for this team...

Just one more piece of evidence against those who continue to talk about the "media pressure" of NYC for NHL players...

Wasn't the end of November in the midst of that crazy unbeaten streak Richter went on?

Also, the 94 team started out just as bad as our 3-5-1 record at the beginning of this year (I translated our 3-3-3 record to what it would've been in 94). After a 4-5-0 start, the Rangers proceeded to go 19-1-2 in their next 22 games.

Our 3-3-3 record was 3 ROW, 2 SOL, 1 OTL, 3 RL = 3-4-2 in 93/94. 8p in 9 games, just like 93/94.

Forgot that the Ottawa game was SO and not OT... the point remains.

The start to the season might just me a mirage.. we are actually doing pretty bad at even strength in terms of shots and possession.. just like the Dallas team of last year and Avs team of 2 seasons past.. both of them fell into the crapper and nearly missed the playoffs in their respective years..

With Torts and Sully's defensive game plans and with our solid D core + Henrik Luuundqvist, it's less likely than what the Avs and Stars did in those "collapse seasons". Kari and Craig Anderson were essentially ******** the bed every second night and their entire team was disjointed. I follow Avs hockey to keep up with one player, Matt Duchene and I know that team well and they do not have much defense happening on that hockey team and their goaltending is no different from what it was in Toronto - 2 crappy starters/good backup. I'm not speculating from individual players (except for Henrik) but rather the composition of the team and the structure. As long as the team plays a game that's defense 1st, we'll be okay. Like I said in the other thread though, .600 or better in the month of December would be fantastic. We're at .705 in the first month and a half. Not easy to keep up with.
