Fair enough, I don't want Phaneuf/Schenn fighting either and getting it handed to them.
The issue I have is that the top two lines are both kinda built the same way physically.
I have no problem with having those smaller guys, and I'm not saying that I think we are filled with soft players, because we aren't, it's just that I think we could use a top 6 player of significant physical ability to help improve our forecheck/toughness.
Guys like Kessel, Connolly, Bozak, MacArthur, and Grabovski are all good players, but when they're all playing in the top 6 (even though Grabo isn't at the moment) then you're team isn't exactly striking a lot of fear into opposing defenses. It's also not like Kulemin and Lupul are either, they're just a but stronger.
i agree, the leafs most glaring need is a gary roberts type for our top 6. i patiently await burke's anual mid season mega trade, hopefully we finally get that player.
Well ladies and gents, I know I've complained about plenty of roster decisions made by this team........but we finally have the lineup I've wanted for a while. Reimer in, three legit scoring lines driven by two proven producers on each line, kids sprinkled in the lineup......and I can't even be bothered about the injuries, because Komi, Army, and Lombo are IMO the three most overpaid guys on the team, and the three contracts I'd feel comfortable just dumping flat out.
I'm a little worried about potential rustiness from Reimer, and I wouldn't mind seeing Colborne, Kadri, and Aulie in or higher up the lineup......but otherwise this is our A team, IMO, and if Ronny keeps up this lineup (and is willing to sprinkle in Colborne, Kadri, and Aulie up higher in the lineup if other borderline guys aren't getting the job done), I won't have anything left to complain about.
Pretty excited to see this lineup in action...hopefully Reimer can come right back in without missing a beat. Like I said I'm a bit worried about him....but then again, the last time I was worried about him was coming right out of this year's training camp.....and he posted a shutout in his first outing.
