He does it at our own blue line by not clearing the puck, and pins our gassed defencemen in for an extra 30 seconds. When is he going to learn that he can't do this, that he can never be an effective impact player if he has no responsibility with the puck?

When, you ask?

WHEN OUR HEAD COACH REMOVES HIS HEAD FROM HIS AZZ AND STARTS COACHING!!!!

And I think it will have to be Deboer that corrects the issues with Kovy. No one else is going to do it and he is the coach. Sit him, yell at him, Pat him on the head when he does well, etc.

You forget :

Kick his azz when he doesn't do well.

That way you'll help him develop a conditioned-reflex where he'll think "I better play SMARTER or I'll get my ass kicked by Randy Quaid."

Objective opinion as usual, bro.
I think kovy just needs to learn when to do certain things and when not. You want to try and dance around people deep in the O zone and turn it over, not that big of a deal. If you are racing up ice and the whole team is behind you and you want to try and skate around a couple of guys and lose it. Go for it. When you are the last man back, make the safe play. There are times to be creative and times to be smart with the puck. He just needs to get better at recognizing the situation.

Edit: Just win tonight and it will start to feel better. Let's go boys!

Exactly. It`s very unfortunate a 28yo superstar needs to be taught hockey`s fundamentals, but it is what it is.

As I`ve said yesterday, I lost the track sometime in the middle of Movember. Not sure what the current pace is.

You can say what you want about how professionals should know what they are doing but still has to be told.
Truth is there are plenty of athletes that need a thumb on them all the time to focus on their game.

A friend of mine deals with this all the time on a professional level.
I personally think Kovy is one of those players and the reason JL was good for him. In a short period of time he had Kovy's D improved and was turning the player to what we needed.

Can`t disagree with that. It`s individual though.

Fire DeBoer, hire Hitchcock? Oh wait.

Not for one player I wouldn't but Hitch would have been better in his case.

JL on a Consultant Basis it would also make PDB looking over his shoulder.

Kovalchuk will try to dangle at his own blueline and get tripped up by his own player...oh wait, that's been done already.

Rhodes isn't gonna like what I'm about to say, but I'm really happy for the city of Winnipeg...

Long live the Jets.

By default my second favorite team now... And they have Byfuglien.
