NEWS & NOTES

QUOTES TO NOTE

You can't count on 2 or 3 guys, or even one line, to carry you every night and have success. You're too easy to shut down.
But here everyone is contributing right through the lineup. Guys are stepping in from Hartford and getting points, scoring goals.
That's what you need to have success in this league, contributions throughout the lineup, and it breeds confidence.
- Ryan Callahan

It was definitely a good win. We hung in there even when they got a couple goals of faceoffs, bang-bang plays and it got kind of scrambly there in the first (period).
So it was good to come out in the second, down one, and capitalize on our opportunities and just keep building.
- Michael Sauer

We're a balanced team. That’s why we’re able to sustain some of the momentum we’re getting in our games.
I thought it was one of those games, two faceoff goals scored against. It was played in spurts at certain times but I thought everybody contributed, especially defensively.
- John Tortorella

LGR! Anyone in the mood to look up when the last time we won at least 5 in a row twice in a season?

Edit - 2006-07

They got the same amount of goals from as the Rangers.

Wouldn't have thought that.

Missing the first period because of work but I'm not complaining since I was supposed to go to a party I didn't want to go to and would have missed the whole game. I'll gladly take making money and the end of the Ranger game over that. Hopefully they come out strong and take this game. Would be sweet to get another extended winning streak going.

LGR!

This might be tough. The Bolts have always given us fits.

Thought I wasn't gonna be able to go since I got a $268 speeding ticket the other day...

I'm scared of Stamkos, but otherwise they don't seem like much of a threat.

Also, we just know Gilroy is gonna score. You know it, I know it, this whole board knows it

Gilroy/MAB sounds like an awful defensive pair.

Abuse the Bergeron-Gilroy pairing at even strength; and stay out of the penalty box, please. They always seem to gift-wrap Tampa powerplays when they play them, and it always changes the flow of the game.

While my fantasy team would love this, I would rather he score 2 some other game lol. Every game brings its own challenges at this point, we'll see how we handle the ones in this game.

We're 3-0 when I predict a 5-2 loss with one of their players scoring 2 goals.

Haven't seen the Bergeron-Gilroy pairing but they are both +7 on a team that is a -11. I'm not sure that's the weak part of the team?

check this out:

http://www.tampabay.com/blogs/lightn...ower-play-unit

The Rangers often have trouble shutting down Tampa's big 3 scorers (Stampkos. St. Louis, Lecavalier. This will be a great test for their D. Can the bottom pairings shut Tampa down or will their weakness be exploited. The key for the Rangers is to stay out of the box or this will be a long night. On a positive note, Tampa is not a shut down team so the Rangers should score some goals.

Regardless of +/-, they are both soft as butter, weak, and bad defensively. Gilroy was a plus player here, and he still was a bad defensive player.

We all know of Bergeron.

Get the Hagelin-Boyle-Mitchell and Avery-Dubinsky-Prust lines out there against that unit.

Haven't watched much of Gilroy, he's playing well there, no? Is he still afraid of contact?

Can't wait to watch a game in an arena that looks like it needs to turn the lights on.

Gilroy blows. If I hear anymore compliments about this worthless, soft, garbage defender I'm going to be sick.

What's weird is how many opposing fans complain about MSG. I understand it's different when you're used to it but I don't see how MSG is dark. I can understand people complaining about high cameras if they're not used to it but not dark. Watch games in Tampa and Florida. THAT is dark.

MSG is definitely darker than most other arenas. I love it though and I couldn't care less about the opposing fans. I go to the games to watch the game, not to see the crowd's faces.
