Greatest goals of all time

Mention of Tavares in another thread got me thinking of the greatest goals ever scored in hockey (talent-wise, not necessarily by importance).

I don't know what goal I ever saw that compared to him knocking the puck out of the air beside the net to put it in front, and then batting it in while still in mid-air.

At the 1:20 mark.

Any other nominations?

It's no how, but rather how many, where, and when. That's always been my philosophy.

But I'm sure Bure or Selanne would dominate this thread. Bobby Orr's end-to-end rushes.

Wow...only 3 responses and this Gretzky goal was in my mind as I read the thread headline....

This was by far the best goal in Oiler history...

Shorty none the less

There's actually another one in the olympics, where lemieux is coming down on hasek (there was a dman too.) Looks over as if to pass, when he knows there's no one there, and then rifles it five hole. Split second fake makes both the dman and hasek hesitate which allows him to score the goal.

not the greatest angle, if you can find the up top angle you'll see he looks back to nobody.

Greatest as in most important? Paul Henderson.

Greatest as in pure great goal? That one by Ovechkin on his ass behind his head.

Lemieux vs Minnesota in the SCF.

Ovie rolling on his back.

Gretz (LA) spin-o-rama and bats it from 20 ft out.

Lafleur/Parreault coast to coast

Doug Weight's that was already mentioned

The Denis Savard 'spinorama' goal against the Oilers still ranks as one of the best goals I've ever seen in my life.

See a lot of the same goals talked Bout whenever these type of threads come around, but no one ever mentions this Joey Mullen goal, probably because no one remembers it. It's only appearance on YouTube is at 2:55 of this sports vid from the late 80s
