What's the scouting report on Phil Di Giuseppe? Remember hearing about him being at the World Junior camp for Canada as one of the 5 draft eligible players.

Not sure myself all I know is he's slated to be a later first/earlier second.

New Jersey could also forfeit the pick this year. It's their choice. I think they'll forfeit it this seasons because you never know how much longer Brodeur has

Ya that's what I meant they will forfeit this years pick if they win the cup, leaving no one picked 30th.

I think they'll forfeit without winning the cup though.

Best part of the 3 game slide besides getting the Rangers is our draft position. It opens the door to taking one of the three Swedes (after Forsberg) if they want to go that route again. Also, Teravainen is a big time riser which has been their tendency lately. Not a real big fan of Gaunce.

I'll guess Collberg.

Here is the updated mock from mynhldraft:

Anyone know if this Nick Czinder kid has been drafted yet? He was born in 1992 but I cant find anything about him being drafted... If he's available this year we gotta pick him up with one of our mid picks. Hes a beast of a Power Forward at 6'4 241 and he's only 19!

I'm gonna put my money on Pontus Aberg or Slater Koekkoek. Aberg would have to be one of the favorites I think - plays on a team with Zibanejad all year so I'm sure the sens organization is extremely familiar with him. Kid isn't that far away from being NHL ready imo, has a nice stocky frame and a big league shot already...

Not drafted, I'd have to think though that being passed over already at that size he has some serious holes in his game but I've never seen him play so can't really comment. I guess you never know...

Czinder doesn't have NHL speed.

So I've heard, any particular reasons why? (Sorry if you've stated it somewhere already) I've heard a couple of scouts questioning his hockey sense as well as his offensive abilities. Just wondering if you have the same concerns or something different.

Koekok is a perfect defenceman to compliment a very strong top 3 defence which is why I think he could be a real good fit here between 15-20. 15-20 mins of non shut down ice time is perfect for him. Would get the best of his game.

Argh Argh Argh.

I know what you mean. But I also think he does everything right, but nothing TOO WELL. I can see him becoming a #3 defenceman, but when I see him I think there is SOMETHING missing.

Something that will make him a #6 defenceman instead. Wouldn't be devastated with him by any means.

EDIT: Yeah JMac, I think he's like Ceci in terms of all around ability, but doesn't do the stuff as well. It's tough though. I played minor hockey against him until he darted off to the private schools, and I've watched him on TSN in the Midget Champs one year. He missed a lot of games this year. I think that's why I'm so skeptical.

I'd prefer Pouliot over Koekkoek.

I tried to keep an eye on Aberg over the past few weeks while watching Zibs but he just never stood out in any way. He doesn't get a lot of ice time over for DIF and I wouldn't draft him unless he agreed to come over to the CHL. I don't know if he really has NHL talent though.

Oh I'd take Pouliot every time, I just have a feeling he will be a top 14 pick. He's so smooth offensively and in todays NHL with guy like that baing so valuable I think he'll be gone before we pick. If we pass on him though I'll be angry.

Both will probably be picked before 15th but may be in reach for a trade up, I'd want either Ceci on D, or Collberg on Forward.

My top 3 would probably go like this:

Defense

Ceci
Maata
Thrower (LV)

Would prefer a RD shot, but gotta go BPA, didn't get a chance to see Koekkoek as much as I would have liked, but him or Finn would also be good picks.

Forward

Collberg
Gaunce
Girgensons (LV)

I've only seen half a shift from Aberg so I can't really comment on him, and don't know anything about Teravainen, and the rest of the forwards are probably late 1st rounders at best.

Looking forward to the U-18 tourney next week, hopefully we get a Swede/Finn broadcast.

He might be a good project pick. I'd be willing to use a late pick on him. Here is an interview he did back in his draft year http://mckeenshockey.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1051744

In regards to other late picks, I would be interested in Jamien Yakubowski, Austin Carroll, Jean Christophe Laflamme and Trevor Cheeck.

A few interesting mid to late power forward picks are Ben Thomson, Taylor Burke, Chris Marchese and Brandon Troock.
