I also like the fact that Ceci has a late bday so he has an extra year of development on most of the players in the draft, probably getting ahead of myself here but I like the fact that there's potential for him to step in next year (or after Gonch is gone), especially with the way he's been playing.

I said a few weeks ago I think Kuba gets resigned. Still think that's going to happen...
I hope we can draft Nick Ebert in the 2nd round. One of those guys that is falling because they don't elevate their game but are really good, much like Couturier.
I haven't been a fan of Ebert's at all, but I still think he will go top 30. You can see the talent, he's just having issues this season it seems. I think a team will take a risk on him in the late 1st.

Wasn't Ebert granted exceptional status to get into the OHL early in the first place? Or am I thinking of Aaron Ekblad?

Yea you're thinking about Ekblad on Barrie (who looks fantastic btw)
Ebert looked great as Windsor's secondary puck mover last year when Ellis got all the attention from the other team. Now that Ellis is gone Ebert hasn't looked like he's been able to handle the pressure of being the teams go to puck mover, or he just looked better then he was last season playing in Ellis' shadow. I've also heard he has a pretty big ego and let last season go to his head so he might have thought he was better then he was. Ebert's season has been a real mystery to me.
The last person to be granted exceptional status before Ekblad was Tavares.

Cool, thanks guys. I wouldn't mind drafting a defenseman in the first round this year with Rundblad gone, as long as they're BPA. Some really nice potential picks in Murray, Reilly, Dumba, etc.
I've been president of the draft Ceci club since the beginning of the season. With the Rundblad trade I'm pumped that it realistically looks like it could happen.

I've had Ceci in my top 10 since late October. I could see him going anywhere from 5 to 15 with all these great defenceman available. It'll just come down to which guys teams fall in love with. You really can't go wrong with any of them. I think Ceci will be one of those guys a GM falls in love with and takes between 6 and 10. He's just the total package in my eye.
Ceci's certainly going to get a long look much like Prince did. It certainly seems like our scouts are confident in many of the defenceman in the draft seeing as how they'd give up Rundblad before our first. That, or they're being extra careful just in case we bomb and finish top 5 or so.
Out of the 4 main 67s thread guys (Mianjo, MoO, ILCN, Myself), I've probably been the biggest Ceci skeptic as they all know.
After watching him tonight, however, I'm starting to change my mind. I'm really bipolar with him. Sometimes I love him, sometimes I hate him. There's no question he's a very good all-around player, but tonight made me think of the offensive potential.
I think he could legitimately be a #1 PPQB in the NHL. Now he'd never reach that on our team with Karlsson, but his thunderous shot is not something you can ignore.
One more thing. I've never seen a defenceman IN MY LIFE find a way to get to the "house" (ie slot area) more then Ceci. Defenseman are traditionally perimeter players, but Ceci finds a way to get into the dangerous, high-percentage ares of the ice. It's a real asset, one that could be vital for the Senators, who embody the definition of a Perimeter team.
Filatov should take a page out of Ceci's book, if that makes any sense at all.

Quick note, what do my fellow 67ers think of Janes? Could he be a decent mid round guy? His combination of size, speed, and toughness makes me think he could be a pretty decent checking/energy forward in the NHL.
Yup as soon as we dealt Rundblad it seemed like D would be the direction to draft this year and I'll be the secretary of the Ceci fan club, I've only watched him live 4 times this year but have always come away super impressed, plus it helps that Pierre Dorion was at one of those games.
He's big on him too, had nice things to say about him on French radio earlier this week

I prefer the term administrative assistant.
If we're in the 12-16 pick range, it would be interesting to see if Murray would move up to guarantee him. That 2nd round pick would've been nice to do that.
We desperately need a guy like Ceci now that Rundblad is gone. I think we'll likely have to trade up to grab him though, unless we finish the season in the bottom eight or so.
We can't go forward with Karlsson as our only real puckmover on the back end. Rundblad would've given us a great one-two on defence as far as quick transitions and crisp breakouts. I don't think Wiercioch will ever fill those shoes, nor will a guy like Wideman.
With Karlsson and Cowen on opposite ends of the spectrum, it would be fantastic to have a player like Ceci somewhere in between.
I think the acquisition of Turris really drops our chances of picking a guy like Gaunce. I'm not sure about him on the wing, and we seem pretty darn set at Center right now.
I think Ceci is more and more likely the person who we'll draft.
I'm pretty excited over the prospect of Ceci now, actually. Having watched him fairly often he's a player I can say I am more familiar with in this draft and I like what he brings to the table. Glad to see I'm not the only one who thinks he would be a good fit on this team.
Ceci would be a perfect #3 on this team I think, or could be.
