From the Preds board, after their loss to Buffalo:

So it's good to see the Sabres don't have the only fanbase that clamors for shake-ups and coaching changes after a loss.

Nothing wrong with that IMO. He's trying to be a little entertaining. Those guys aren't bad, I know because I REALLY notice the bad ones. I didn't notice them that much for being good or bad, and that makes them good in my book.

The more I watch it, the more I join the "there's not much he could do" camp. He had a ton of speed coming in. His other choice was to crash into the boards off balance. I don't care if you're Nancy Kerrigan, you're not stopping in that situation.

Still sucks to watch though.

Was it as bad as the Lucic hit? No. Do I think he intended to hit Miller hard? No. Do I think he made a bad decision? Yes. Do I think he could have avoided the collision? Yes, by making the proper decision earlier in the play. Erhoff didn't have the effect on that play that some are saying he did.

Aside from booing the major call, I really didn't have a problem with Nashville's crowd toinght. I think it's damn impressive they were on their feet and chanting throughout a commercial break while it was still 2-1. There was a tangible energy in the building while Nashville was pressing to tie the game.

Miller was awesome. I thought Leino had one of his best games as well. Roy created the turnover that led to the 3rd goal, but was invisible otherwise. Kassian hands. 10 shots through 2 periods was not good enough.

Just some of my thoughts

Can't be right. They got smoked in Boston in the second of a back-to-back.

Yeah nevermind. Thats my bad. I could have sworn MSG put up a stat box last night stating they were 4-0 on the second of back-to-backs. I was also working and the game was on mute, so I most definitely misconstrued some other stat.

I saw that too, you're right. They did show a stat that claimed Buffalo was 4-0-0 on the 2nd night of back to backs. The stat they showed is especially wrong, because the next weekend after the game Zip pointed out they lost the backend of a 2-in-2 by losing to Phoenix 4-2.

Glad to get the W, but ugly: outshot 34-14. That's not good.

Also ugly: Finley played just 4:56. Tropp 6:37. Kassian 11:00.

Not sure why Finley is being sheltered THAT much. Tropp has shown he can roll - he did serve some penalties though. Kassian at just 11:00, though? Surely this guy can play a couple more minutes than that.

Leino-Adam-Kassian could be a very solid line in the future.

Reminds a lot like the Leino-Briere-Hartnell line. Adam is the goal scoring center, like Briere was. Kassian is the power forward on the wing creating space and working hard, like Hartnell was. And Leino is Leino, the playmaker on the wing with a lot of room to work in.

That future is right now.

The sooner they render the "old core" obsolete, the better, as far as I'm concerned.

He tried to cut in front of Miller after he lost the puck. Had Ehrhoff not pushed him in the back, he would have avoided the collision.

Erhoff barely touched him. The room was not there to be making the move he tried. I don't think it was malicious, but it was unwise.

I thought Grags was pretty solid defensively.

Been loving Leino back at center between Adam/Kassian.

I haven't been able to watch much since that line got put together. Are Leino and Adam sharing faceoff duties situationally like Adam and Pominville were? Leino been better at the dot if so?

I thought Ennis had a good game, yea he blew some chances, but at least he was getting chances and buzzing. I'm happy to see him back in the lineup.

I'm surprised nobody addressed the real ugly which is that they're heading back to Buffalo for 5 straight games; which will probably end up as a 1-3-1 stat line since they play so well in front of the home crowd.

That was really embarrassing. I like Kevin in between periods, but he blows as a play-by-play man. Gare is ok, albeit a bit dull.

Yeah - I'd like to take a long look at Kassian and, if he keeps playing like this, I wouldn't mind keeping him up. I know the conventional wisdom is to let him develop in the A, but if he can play at this level with more than 10:00 TOI, I think it'd be ok to keep him up.

I think all the GBU is covered by now but we forgot one section in this thread.

Hilarious - Kassian and McNabb crashing into each other at the blue line....

just got back from Smashville...

the good
- I love pissed off Ryan Miller. He came back and played an elite game. He made 3-4 incredible saves, and a dozen or so other big stops. that's a game you can easily describe as being "stolen"
- I really like the way Leino's game is developing in the system, now start shooting!
- Zach Kassian is here to stay, there is no need to send him down ever again.
- Tyler Ennis getting off the schnide.
- the Nashville crowd... there chants are totally retarded, but there passion for their team is awesome. "we're gonna kick your but. and you. and you. and you"
- the arena location is awesome, spills right out onto Broadway.
- McNabb with 20 minutes, and didn't look out of place at all. we are going to have a lot of competition/tough choices if this team ever gets healthy.

the bad
- I'd like to see Derek Roy and Drew Stafford in another team's sweater soon.
- I'm reading a bunch of people giving Grags props for his game last night... uh??? I watched him get beat outside on shift after shift.
- Ennis scored... but totally botched 3 quality chances
- Tootoo... dirty, intentional... im actually glad it happened though. Hopefully provides the spark this team needs
- How did Leino-Adam-Kassian not get more minutes fed, they were the only consistent line out there.

the awesome
homies and hockey
