Beauchemin to the Hawks

Hawks have a need for a guy like him.

What would you want for him as rental?

Not easily replaceable for the Ducks. Has been great since coming back to Anaheim and has played well with Fowler.

Is worth more to Anaheim so guessing it would take something some Hawk fans might not like.

But yeah that would be if he was already re-signed and on a good contract. Would imagine Murray would want to get him signed this time around.

Rather just re-sign him, unless he goes to the Hawks for a few months and comes straight back to the Ducks in the off-season

How has Beauch played since the trade back to Anaheim? I admit I've only seen a few Ducks games since then. He was pretty meh in Toronto.

I just think that he wouldn't really want to go, but Ducks could get assets and resign him as UFA.

It's too early to say this, but Ducks lost a lot of points already in the hunt for a PO Spot

More than Lupul (his value during the trade) and Gardiner

Beauchemin would cost you one of the 3 forwards you took in the first two rounds of last years draft, + probably a 2nd rounder. Don't know if the Hawks would be willing to pay the asking price for Beauch, given that the Ducks just gave up a top notch prospect for him in Gardiner.

After what we gave up for him we better re-sign him.

I'd rather go after Lydman.

He has easily been one of our 2 best defenders this year with Fowler. He is probably more consistent or solid then Fowler though.

Lydman Can be had, but I think it would have to be a deadline deal.

We cant afford to have Brookbank on our top 4

Truthfully I would rather trade Visnovsky then any of our other top4. Not because he is not good or not needed. Just looking into the future we have alot more defensemen that can play that PMD then we have stay at home defensemen.

Let me put it this way: Beauchemin got Lupul and Gardiner. Beauchemin and Lydman are both playing Much Much better then Beauchemin was playing last year. So more then he Toronto fetched for Beauchemin.

Anaheim overpaid and Lupul was widely considered by Duck fans at the time as a salary dump.

Ya... at the time Lupul was considered a hindrance and the Ducks even had to throw in a progressive draft pick that gets better the more games Lupul plays.

Gardiner also surprised everyone by making the team out of training camp and now logging top minutes.

The Ducks aren't and cannot be sellers at this point in the year...they have a fanbase that they need to keep interested. For the Ducks to trade Beauchemin, they'd need a very good #2 centre, or to receive a defenceman like Beauchemin in return. It could probably be done if Patrick Sharp or Niklas Hjalmarsson were involved, but we all know that's not happening.

As a pure rental at the deadline if Anaheim is out? He'll fetch whatever the market will bear. That'll problably be in the range of a high end prospect and 3rd-4th round pick.

I disagree with you Sean, our attendance has been mediocre to bad this season. Anaheim has been marketing tickets for 16 bucks a piece due to this issue rather than last years 20+ asking price.

I believe the organization needs to bring in some young new star talent as it once was with the early years of RPG when season seats were hard to come by due to interest. Whether that means we make a big splash at the deadline or be sellers for this years draft. With so many sports in So Cal you have to have a winning franchise or you don't exist especially with basketball season coming in Christmas.

Chances are that beauchi is traded to lower salary when the ducks are eliminated from playoff race.

Bob Murray paid the same price for Ryan Whitney...Kunitz (contract) and Tangradi (top prospect). So I don't see how much of an overpayment it was considering Lupul (contract) and Gardiner (top prospect) is the price Murray has been shown to pay.

I hope Beauchemin re-signs with Ducks, his a different player for them and I don't want them to lose him for noting.

100%. He has been our #1 defenseman since coming over by a mile. 30 mins a night and works his ass off for every minute.

I'm a Ducks fan so I know the situation that Lupul was in. But Gardiner by himdelf was one of our top 3 [prospects and a former 1st rounder.

Not to mention Beauchemin has been significantly better then he was with the leafs. To the leafs he was an overpayed #4. On the Ducks he is a great #2 who we payed alot for and have no reason to trade.

This.

They aren't going to get better value for him than they gave up (Lupul was coming off a huge injury, and he's a UFA after this season). And like you said in the bold, I think it would be a mistake to lose/trade him seeing how well he can play for them.
