Sup with our schedule?

When we first played Calgary on the 2nd half of a back to back, I sighed

When we played them again on the 2nd half of a back to back, I cried

When we play them for the 3rd time in a row on the 2nd half of a back to back...

Next week we play Colorado Friday, then Calgary Saturday. Setting us up for another lames loss.

It's an outlier statistic. The NHL doesn't feel it has any bearing at all, and feels it will eventually average out (but doesn't).

Too many conservative dinosaurs in the executive level of the NHL.

Makes me wonder if the cause of this is to penny pinch on travel funds.

Not only was it the second of a back-to back but it was also the third game in four nights. Calgary must have helped write the schedule.

i've said it before and i'll say it again back to backs should only be played if both teams are playing back to backs. Wouldn't that be more fair to everybody?

It evens up when you play other teams on back-to-backs.

We have seven back-to-backs in the first 41 games on the season, including 4 games in 5 nights - all on the road. That's just spiteful. '

The good news is that we face almost entirely out-of-division opponents and have lots of home stands in the second half.

That's their (logically bankrupt) reasoning as well.

Unless you're playing the same team on the same night, you will never find equal footing. Playing Boston on the second half of a back to back is not the same as playing Anaheim, and getting caught on the second half by Vancouver is not the same as getting caught by the Islanders.

Yes it would and includes Calgary.

If Calgary helped write the schedule, they didn't do a very good job. 4 of the 6 games they play against the Canucks this year are on the second half of a back-to-back... including tonight.

This is how they should do it 1 road back to back against every division rival. 1 Home back to back against every division rival. No back to backs against out of division teams.

Not only would it be more fair, but it would also be a better fan experience.

Because they knew they were going to lose to Vancouver anyways. Seems like a pretty good schedule if you ask me.

Nobody was complaining when the Oilers blitzed Nashville 6-2 after playing in Dallas the night before.

5 of the 12 back-to-backs are against Calgary and Colorado.

Nice idears! It would likely need to be 2 games each to keep the compression consistent.

You can make some not bad vcash on this site just betting against tired teams.

I know it's impossible for the west to compete with the east when it comes to travel, but I would like for the league to look into making the western schedule friendlier. i.e the elimination of b2b games for the western conference.

Or just change the conferences.

The problem there is the eastern teams will never go along with it. I believe the league needs a 2/3 majority in order to really revamp the conferences and schedule. Right there that's 15 teams not in favour of realignment and more travel.
