Filppula Suffers Cut On Leg

http://www.mlive.com/redwings/index....lppula_su.html
Quote:
DENVER -- Quick post-game update:

Detroit Red Wings forward Valtteri Filppula suffered a cut on his leg late in the first period Sunday.

"He got a cut on his leg above his skate,'' coach Mike Babcock said. "We sent him to have it looked at. We don't know if it's serious or not serious.''
Hopefully it's nothing serious. We can't afford this cut being Modano-esque.

Hmmm, could be very bad, or just bad.

This would suck SO much for Flipper, he's so hot right now.

Of course he has to get an injury when he's currently in what seems to be his breakout year. ****ing hell he can't catch a break. Hopefully he isn't out too long.

I hope Nyquist gets the call. Keep Cleary on the third line.

from MLive

"Fil’s played probably as well as anybody has played. He’s been fantastic for us," Danny Cleary said. "He got cut. I think it was more precaution than anything. It was a big loss, the whole line combinations were all jumbled."

It couldn't have been too bad if he was able to skate off without showing any noticeable signs of extreme pain. He was just kind of checking his skate as it left for the locker room.

Hopefully it was just precautionary and he'll be fine. We really need Fil in the lineup given his very high level of play this season. Play in the offensive zone looked like garbage once he left the game last night.

Hopefully its just a nice gash and not Modano esque where it was deep enough to cut a tendon.

If Flip is out for any serious period, and Hudler stays on the third line during that time, Babcock should be banned from coaching.

Also... Hudler should play forward on the PP if Flip's out. Seriously... he's much more effective up front; he doesn't have a big slapper so he can basically move the puck or put a weak shot on net.

Uh, pretty sure Hudler was already on the second line with Filppula and Zetterberg.....

There's no way of knowing really, seeing as he's totally invisible out there.

Should we be a little unnerved that we haven't received an update on the injury yet?

Nah, the fact that nothing new has developed could also mean it's nothing that will keep him out long-term, if at all.

When he broke his leg he skated off the ice under his own power without showing any pain as well. Let's all just pray it's just a scratch!

Obviously this is far from being the final word on the extent of his injury, but Cleary said "He got cut. I think it was more precaution than anything."

At least it's something encouraging.
