He could be. Majority of his time here he's been inconsistent and he hasn't really progressed the way everyone thought he would. Had solid seasons in 08 and 10 but was absolutely dreadful in 09 and 11. He was on a one year deal this year so I could see him not being brought back after this surgery.

Don't the Mets have a couple stud pitching prospects? I thought they did.

They are just really weak at fielding prospects right?

Wheeler's their top guy probably whom they got for Beltran last year. There's also Harvey and Familia who they're hoping will pan out as well.

Here's who Baseball America had listed as their top 10 prospects.

http://www.baseballamerica.com/today...2/2612565.html

I've seen Reese Havens play live in Brooklyn and loved what I saw but the problem with him is he's always injured. Cory Vaughn isn't on the list but he was one of the most impressive guys I've seen come through Brooklyn. Anyone who's been to MCU Park in Coney Island knows how hard it is to hit a home run out of there especially for kids coming out of college that are adjusting to wooden bats and he was hitting them like they were going out of style.

Ground ball triple...well then.

We're making up for all the bad the Acostalypse did to our run differential.

One thing I will say about this Met team, when they smell blood they go for the kill. Rangers could learn from that.

Outscoring the cards 19-0 this series. So much for them having the best offense in the league

Met need to get some hands for their bullpen though. Do they have any go to guys?

Parnell's got the stuff but relies on his fastball too much IMO. Byrdak's a solid lefty and Rauch is a good 8th inning guy. It's a train wreck outside those three guys and even they run into trouble.

Mets continue to get amazing starting pitching. Gee's into the 7th with only one run allowed.

Just as I say that the Cards get runners on the corners with no out.

On top of that, Gee, who had a really good game, bungles the double play.

Oh well, can't win them all.

SS, just bungles the next play.

Not their day it would seem.

Bullpen is awful.

Sandy's done some great under the radar moves (Hairston, Baxter) and Beltran for Wheeler was a ****ing fleece, but his goal this off-season to fix the bullpen failed.

Disappointing.

Why did the Mets draft a SS?? What does that say about Tejada?

I don't think Tejada's a long term solution, but everything i've read seems like this guy basically projects to be what Tejada projects to be.

Like I said, i don't know much about prospects but my initial reaction is I don't like this pick.

Mets actually made a great pick.

Yankees made a great pick as well Ty Hensley

Quote:
The Cardinals made Mike Hensley the 53rd overall selection in the 1988 draft, and his son Ty will beat him by about 30 picks this June. While several of this draft crop's high school righthanders have been injured or regressed this spring, Hensley has done nothing but help his cause. The 6-foot-5, 220-pounder has sat at 92-95 mph and touched 96-97 with his fastball all season--and it's not even his best pitch. That would be a 12-to-6 curveball that he spins in the upper 70s. Hensley's command isn't as impressive as his pure stuff, and he still needs to add some life and work down in the zone more often with his fastball. Before his velocity spiked, he showed a promising changeup as a sophomore, but he hasn't needed it this spring. A quality athlete, Hensley played quarterback at Santa Fe High before giving up football before his senior year. He's also a power-hitting switch-hitter who could get the opportunity to play both way in the unlikely event that he follows through on his commitment to the University of Mississippi.

ESPN: Summary : Hensley is a big right-hander with two above-average pitches now and the size to pitch at the top of a rotation, but the effort in his delivery and lack of command have him a cut below the top tier of prep arms. Hensley will hit 98 but pitches now at 93-94, pairing it with a power curveball at 77-81 with hard 12-to-6 break. The fastball doesn't sink or tail but does have some late life up, running up and in to right-handed batters. He gets on top of the ball well and really gets out over his front side, although he doesn't close that front side cleanly after release. He drifts off the rubber early and starts his arm very late, making up for it with big arm acceleration, but it's hard for him to repeat the delivery. There's huge potential here in the raw material if a club feels like they can clean him up and get him to throw more consistent strikes.
