#Caps G Tomas Vokoun just said he's NOT playing tonight vs. his former team.

Interesting.

Interesting.
Especially since he shut them out last time. Guess Hunter is giving Neuvirth a couple in a row.

Michal Neuvirth starts for #Caps. No Alexander Semin or Roman Hamrlik.

I don't think Vokoun was expecting to compete for his job when he came here on that tiny salary.

And I didn't expect Vokoun to give up so many softies... though I should have. The Cats fans warned us.

Yes, Semin wasn't partcipating fully but Hamrlik was doing line rushes and rotating in.

Ovechkin had the last three point game of his career against Florida, 35 games ago. Rekindle the magic.

Hunter always, only cared about what was best for the crest on the front of his sweater. Guys who don't share his priorities will not see a lot of ice.

Agreed.

Besides, IMO the team needs to focus on getting back to hockey. The added sideshow of Vokoun vs. his former team isn't needed. He played them already this year and beat them. It's over.

Let's play hockey.

Exactly, I'd say just ride the hot-hand. Vokoun or Neuvirth aren't guaranteed anything. Whoever plays well should start.

That's why he has always been one of my all time fav Caps. I hope this aspect of his game is what he chooses to build the team ethos around.

Same can be said about Hamrlik since he got here.

So glad to read that Neuvy is getting a 2nd start in a row. He earned it to be sure, but its great confidence builder, especially since he has been struggling with his new back-up role.

I will say I am surprised there wasn't another "slap in the face" quote put forth by Vokoun's agent in response to finding out Vokoun wouldn't start in his old barn.
