Why hasn't Stastny on Duchene's wing been suggested or even tried? I didn't follow closely when he entered the league, but didn't Stastny play some left wing?

Stastny's FO and Defensive game > Duchene's.

A three game win streak in which that line has one (very fluky) goal.

Yep, even when Stas has played his worst hockey statistically of his career, he's a huge part of our team. Without him we dont have a great Top 6 anymore, Galiardi is a good 3rd liner but not a Top pairing guy. I think Stas's Defensive play is what has been underrated around here, we did not look good on alot of there goals.

Yup, getting rid of him would be a big mistake IMO.

He's also played much better as of late, I kind of feel bad for him, he's played very well in his last 4-5 games and is probably deserving of like 5-6 points over his last 5 games but only has 1 Goal, thats got to be frustrating as a player. If he can score a couple points on back to back night and get his confidence back again, I think we would see an even better Stas then we've seen lately in the 2nd half of the season.

Of course, it also wouldnt hurt to have a coach who knew what he was doing, but that is unfortunatly looking less and less likely .

Can she do intermission reports?

We need a replacement for Julie badly.

I'm sold if so!

the fact is, hes just not that good of a player. doesnt bring too much to the table beyond decent forecheck and decent two way game, which most grinders have and dont cost 6.6 a year.
So let's get this straight; Jay McClemment, Daniel Winnik, Chuck Kobasew etc are players who are as good as, or better than, Paul Stastny?!

if statsny was open for trade

what would it take from the capitals side?

most caps fans would love to get rid of semin

however, im more curious on if a CAPABLE 2nd line center can be finally picked up for semin.

what would it take?

colorados 1st back, washingtons 1st perreault/eakin?

if not that and more roster players are necessary do you guys have a defensive 4/5 d man?

just curious

Definitely our pick and a top 4 dman/top 6 forward to create any incentive

Don't know who Alzer is but I would definitely do Mojo+col 1st for Stastny any day.

Alzn*er. Sue me . Easily take that Mojo + Col 1st. Washington would be insane to do it tho.

how about this crazy proposal that work in capgeek

Wideman, Schultz, Perreault, Wash 1st, Col 2nd (back to them)

for

Statsny

so in it's entirety from the beginning of the season these two teams would have made this trade as the end result :

Washington 1st, Varlamov, Wideman, Schultz, Perreault
for
Colorados 1st, Statsny

it definitely works on the caps end, I would think, and seems to work on the avs end. let me know what this fairytale proposal come off as

Schultz and Wideman are being thrown in for cap reasons but let's face it -- they are of insignificant value. You don't have our 2012 2nd, you have Boston's 2nd round drat pick (2012) or our 2nd (2013) -- TBD but I assume Caps will go for the more timely pick. If the Avs want to trade Stastny for picks and/or prospects then maybe they can get a better offer elsewhere; maybe not, who knows? I don't really see a point in making this trade unless the Capitals 1st is sufficiently high in the draft (unlikely). It has reasonable value though if we wanted to rebuild I guess.

what is your opinion if that col2nd is replaced with the col1st? i know this is all hypothetical but its intriguing nontheless

Wideman is a great pp qb (but when green gets back he is expendable if he can truly be package to bring statsny here)

the schultz experiment in washington is finally done now that BB is gone. but the kid would still be a decent pickup

perreault was never given a true fair chance here like other players. he is a decent pickup id say to get some potential from an nhl ready player now. but honestly would eakin be in better placement and strictly go potential?

Wouldn't do it, what's the point for the Avs? Not really one player that is of any value to the Avs and their rebuild.

Wideman is an ok part of the deal
Schultz isn't of any value to us an is redundant in our system
Perreault doesn't do much for me as he is a center which we don't need
and picks are picks

If Colorado were to ever trade Stastny it would be for young wingers and picks.

I just don't see Washington as a good partner for trading Stastny as they don't have the wingers we need or want and the only thing I'd really be interested in is getting our pick back but I don't want it that bad if it means trading Stastny for spare parts.

It's a pointless conversation. Capitals realistically won't trade the 1st rounder. Playing along, however, then sure; Avs would still have to sign a replacement in the off-season, but the advent of O'Reilly helps absorb the loss.

do you really think its out of the realm of possibility considering colorade trade a 1st and a 2nd for varly?

i dont honestly.

not challenging you here, just really curious on what a colorado fan feels about statsny having 1 year left and getting great picks a very capable PP QB (did you guys ever get a replacement for liles?) and two capable nhl players with some potential definitely still left.
