I doubt Halifax is going to give up too much this year in any trade unless they are getting great assets for at least next year too. They had earmarked next season as the one to really compete, and are looking ahead of schedule. They'll likely make a nice playoff run, but it will be difficult for them to knock of Saint John and/or Quebec.

As someone suggested maybe Desjardins or Grenier or another forward could get moved if they get good value. Probably looking for 17-18 year old good defenseman that can help this year, but more importantly next year.

I doubt Drouin is traded despite the fact te team has done well without him. Drouin and MacKinnon are going to be the foundation of this team. MacKinnon may be first overall in 2013, and be gone after next season. While Drouin could be a high pick too, he likely will be in Halifax for 2 years after this one.

As for Douin and Dubuque, he pretty lost his NCAA eligibilty a week after visiting, when he came to Halifax and was show around the town and taken for dinner by the team. Accepting anything, even as small as meals can kill NCAA options.

While they are competing real well this season, I think Halifax still has their sights realistically set on next year, when they can have a full season with MacKinnon, Frk, Drouin, Ryan and Fucale. Looking at that list, you would think they'd want to balance it with some defensive help.

4 goals and 2 assists for Ben Duffy tonight, his value probably went up a bit. I can just imagine what he could do if he had some decent linemates.

From Willy Palov

"Ben Duffy's stock will get another boost after this game. Have heard Rimouski is most interested right now "

I can't see Halifax having a need to trade for Hobbs unless he is a throw in on a deal. As of right now it looks like Halifax may be needing to upgrade their blueline for next year but Hobbs doesn't fill that need as he won't be in the league next year.

Besides who knows what Savard has in mind for Duffy, I think they should be trading him now but it wouldn't surprise me in the least if he was still in a Rocket jersey after the trade deadline simply because it is Savard.

I agree and understand what you mean. Duffy has really turned his game around after his 2nd season and has impressed me in doing that but if the Rocket don't trade him I think it personifies how this organization has been screwed up as it has been. Don't get me wrong, I think he will likely be traded but I always get an uneasy feeling with Savard when it comes to doing the right thing, especially at trades.

Well, the way things are run in Montreal I am glad that Drouin headed off into the sunset. You can only push the territorial boundaries so much then it eventually comes back to bite you in the ass. Especially since Junior teams do the decisions about when to call players up or not.
Since Deluca is going the NCAA route we know he will be staying put....or will the family ''move back'' to play with the old team?
For the guy stating that they won't win the Telus but will repeat as the Quebec Representative....forget it...without Drouin and no one else coming down the Lions don't win the league. Drouin can help you win every night...Deluca, good player, but can't carry the team on his back every night.

That was before they lost Cortese, and Drouin had been a part of the LSL orginization for years.

Anyways it's a moot point now, the questions are:

Who comes back ?
Who plays Jr lions but isnt living in LSL territory ?
And who are the top 97's in the LSL area ?

Haven't seen Cote leave the Lions yet....
Off of LSL for a second there is a rumor that Maxime Clermont is headed back to the Q at Christmas ala Nicolas Riopel a few years ago.

He probably will... to Blainville-Boisbriand. A guy like Jess Tanguy + a pick would be coming to Chicoutimi I guess.

Not a trade rumor but apparently Saint John have acquired Charlie Coyle.

Rumour (and that's all it is I'm sure) swirling that Clermont would be returning to the Q. I assume Gatineau still has his rights?

Even with Duffy you're not mid-pack.. He wont go SJ, but Hali and Victo could be possibilities. Savard IS an idiot, but hes not stupid enough to not deal Duffy.

Halifax will likely make a move that can help them next year.

Hali would wait till the draft to add Duffy as his value will go down with only 1 year of service. Lewis on D could be offered and prospects Sills and Lovell.
