Love it, don't really care for Florida or Tampa in our conference but what-evs, I'm sure Quebec will be added when Phoenix moves.

Not a fan of it at all...

I would've settled with a one for one team swap

So happy, divisional playoffs are awesome.

Florida and Tampa will be gone in a few years don't worry about that

The one thing that I really like is that the format allows for more rivalries in the playoffs, because the first two rounds are divisional.

Fine by me. See Crosby two less times a year (no times in the first 2 rounds) and all western teams twice.

This should result in more Toronto-Ottawa playoff series'. Which will be awesome. Haven't seen that in years!

So, does this also mean that the Prince of Wales and Campbell trophies are being retired?

No complaints.

Rivalries are born in the playoffs.
I think this is probably one of the better things the NHL has done in a long time.

I can't stand the divisional playoff format. There's basically no point in trying for the top seed when you're going to get the same matchup in the second round no matter if you finish 1-3. Teams are supposed to be rewarded with a strong regular season with easier matchups in the first two rounds and the divisional format just makes a mockery of that.

They look like pretty good divisions.

I guess they are poised for a western team to move east, or im sure their preference, for two eastern expansion teams.

The players will surely love the Florida road trip in WInter. And for fans, c'mon, 24 hour road trip in the car to the beach in winter for games.

I remember the old days of the divisional playoffs, and they did create some good rivalries, but after a while, a few years of it, you were longing for something different at times.

There has been a lot of complaints about some schedules having much more travel, i guess they could've realigned to make every ones travel schedule roughly the same amount of travel miles and road trips. No one fights for that kind of fairness though it seems.

I love it, can't wait for this for next season. Any word on if the schedules will be every team plays eachother at least home/home for the year?

Hopefully this means we FINALLY get to play a playoff series against Montreal.

Man have I been aching for one of those.

Awesome. Basically every team in our conference is on the rise. Gonna make for some intense games. Also will make it harder to make the playoffs though.

Basically like the old division only it's a guarantee that four teams make it.

TO be honest this might hurt the former NE division.

Looked like we could put 5 in haha.

From a Sens perspective I like it.

Being in a 7-team conference = easier to make the playoffs.

The only negative that I see happening is an MLB like situation where one division makes it REALLY tough to make the playoffs.

While there is a salary cap in the NHL, next year would be a pain because of how good each time in our division is becoming...

I actually don't like that. I thought everyone would be reseeded after the 1st round. After the 2nd year, seeing the same matchups will get old IMO.

We were pretty much a lock for 4 spots for a good chunk of time, so this doesn't really change much.

lol no.

Don't give me a simple 7 iz smaller than 8 hurr duurr response either.

You are competing within the division, how easy is it for Seattle to make the playoffs in the AL West?

It's not, because the other teams are bawse sauce.

You compete within your division, its not about size, its about quality.

Thinking about it, it also makes regular season games against your conference rivals a lot more important. That should be an added bonus too.
