Malone rumors are always common place, but when talking to those who know Ryan well he is happy in Tampa and the only trade he would likely accept would be a move back to Pittsburgh. That's not to say someone wouldn't try to convince him otherwise..Buffalo is one such team who may be about to try.
Nothing to the current rumors involving Vancouver. The Canucks are definitely aggressive buyers, but not interested in Lacavalier's contract. That is not to say Vinny couldn't be moved at all. Yes, the contract is prohibitive, but there are a few teams who are willing to explore it and a few of those teams are teams I have been told Vinny would consider going to.
That's the only reason he isn't playing in St. Louis this season. In the video I posted McKenzie says Bishop was better than both Halak and Elliott in camp but the Blues picked Elliott over Bishop because of his experience.
By the way, you posted Bishop's numbers from last season. This season he's:
27 GP (17-10-0) 796 saves, 2.17 GAA, 0.932 SV%
So he's in fact getting more rubber but maintaining even better numbers than Tik.
Another fact that makes him quite intriguing: He's 6'7".
After the Smellis debacle last year and Garolosongeddon this season maybe it's time for a different goalie coach in Tampa? Smitty's words kinda point that way too:
[Mike Smith] said goaltenders coach Sean Burke has been "a huge, huge mentor for me."
"I've matured a lot as a player. I've learned a lot about my game and what it takes to be more consistent," Smith said. "I don't know if that would have happened if I would have stayed in Tampa. I'm not saying it wouldn't have. I just think I've learned a lot about my game this season than I have in the past."
Blues fan here hoping you guys take Bishop. Bishop grew up here in STL and actually played against him in highschool. Bishop has been a great goalie here in STL and everyone loves him and actually expected and wanted him to be the backup this year. He has great size being 6'7 so he covers a lot of the net obviously. His one NHL shutout was against the Oilers last year stopping 39 shots. Love Bishop and he deserves a shot in the NHL. Wouldn't even want anything from you guys just would love to see him get his shot.
