Need to get back to the way we were playing before the weekend. And for the love of God please score more than 3 goals. (Prefrably in a win)

If there is one team I hate it is Detroit, we need to beat these guys not just because it is Detroit but for the sake of not going back into another slump.

Berglund is due for a multipoint game.

The new lines should make things interesting. The 3rd line will have some more speed and hopefully Stewart and Berglund can regain their magic with Perron.

A win here can keep us with the Wings in the standings, we need to not fall to far back.

I remember after the trade that Boston fans told us Sobotka was an exclusive center and useless on the wing. Maybe a return to his natural position will bring about a new level of play.

I'm surprised by how much I'm looking forward to seeing Colaiacovo tonight. I honestly considered him a potential scratch for Nikitin/Cole a few months ago.

I say the blues come back and play a full 200 foot 60 minute game. Would love to see perron rack up a couple more.

Blues - 4 (Backes, Perron x2, Dags)

Wings - 2 (Dats x2)

Elliot needs to be big tonight.

I was about to comment why, then I saw he has 8 points in 11 games with them. I wonder if his play could've improved with more time with Hitchcock. Considering how he played in the beginning of the season, I don't question the trade and Russell really hasn't been bad for us.

Seeing how he been doing in CBL I think a top 4 of Pie, Shatten, Cole, Nikitin would be too awesome within 1-2 years from now on.

Yeah I said we'd regret it. It was a stupid trade. Jackman should of been moved to the 3rd pairing with Polak and Nikitin with Shattenkirk or Petro.

Russell's offense in no way makes up for his defense and Nikitin's better at both and is physical. Who cares if he's slow at this point.

I like Russell, but I think he's primed to be the new whipping boy for fans.

He's hard not to be when he makes at least 1 bonehead play a game that results in a goal or a really good scoring chance.

I don't get it at all, honestly. He's scoring at a 30 point pace with us, is +6 in 11 games (only 1 "minus" game in those 11 games) while averaging about 18 minutes a game, is blocking shots and hitting, and is creating almost half again as many takeaways as turnovers. Pietrangelo, Shattenkirk, Jackman, and Cole have all had more (or at least equally) glaring mistakes that have turned into goals than Russell's worst indiscretion. He's not careless with the puck, especially in his own zone, and he's been very effective in the possession/transition games. I have no idea what they were expecting that has led them to be disappointed with his play so far. He's seen a dramatic increase in ice time since he's been here (partially because Colaiacovo went down), but he's earned it as well.

As far as the Cole/Russell debate, I'm fine with Russell starting over Cole in this game. Detroit isn't particularly physical in general, and it's definitely not a huge part of their star players' identity. They're a speed and puck possession team, and the best way to counter that is usually with your own speed and puck possession. Russell fits that profile better than Cole at the moment.

For all the love he gets on offense, I see a lot of poor passes and momentum killing mistakes. He also carries the puck at really weird times.

I love how it was brought up that Carcillo questions Backes on who he goes after. Not sure of the specifics, but Backes has a pretty good record in the fighting department. Backes has already taken care of Toews and the rest of the Canadian team and in a straight fight with Carcillo, I have faith Backes would take care of business, but we all know Carcillo will always be the 3rd man in.
