Begs the question: How high on him is SFY if Bruno gets to play instead? Is the gap between Bruno and "not...quite...yet" really that far?
I think there's a good distance between Oberg and Gervais based on NHL experience, knowledge of the system, chemistry with teammates/ the stuff that separates a rookie from a vet etc. In terms of skill, I don't know. SFY obviously likes his game to trade for him.
Even if they don't plan on him playing this season I do think it's a good idea that they keep prepping him up here. We aren't really expecting Ohlund back so just in case a situation happens we might need him down the stretch, or sooner. The system takes a long time (look at Gilroy) to learn so it's good they are starting now. He should be comfortable and set when the times comes if we need him.

I think they keep sending him back down until he has a good enough anecdote to work him into the lineup.
See: Blair Jones' taxi ride from Binghamton to NYC, and his success since then.
Anecdotes = Success
Here's what Oberg needs to do. Next time he 'suddenly' gets called up, he needs to go down to the nearest helipad and hitch a ride. Maybe on the way he can assist the Coast Guard in rescuing people on a boat.
Or maybe he gets in a taxi, but it's already occupied, but they're okay with it. So he sits between Ryan Callahan's grandma and Ilya Bryzgalov the entire time. It's also Cash Cab. And he gets the video bonus question right.
3 pts in first 4 games (1g, 2a), +6. Guaranteed.

Maybe he's going for frequent flier miles so he doesn't have to ride the bus in the minors. Anyways, why isn't Ohlund on LTIR or does that put him out for the season....not sure what the rules are as far as LTIR...

AFAIK, the only benefit of being on LTIR is the cap relief.
Ya, how about that Blair Jones!
Has he been playing wing or Center in this recent call up and which position is he better suited for?
He plays wing. We have very good depth at center (when healthy) so he's going to be taking faceoffs with us a whole lot. We also have other wingers who can take faceoffs, so he might not even be the first guy to slot in that case.
I imagine Oberg acts like Peter griffin does when Lois gets a job as an air hostess in family guy. I bet he has a pillow fort
Circle C Travel Plaza in Walterboro, SC is almost exactly halfway between Tampa and Norfolk, so they should just assign him there.
Random fact about the river just north of the Augusta highway (the road Circle C is located on) it's the Edisto River, which is the longest undammed blackwater river in North America.
I was impressed with Wyman. He did his role very well on that line and showed real battle for pucks. Small sample size of course, but it's more than we've seen from Oberg...Poor guy.
Obviously done to be traded, sent to Vancouver, league rejects as no reference found to such a player, so he has to fly back to Tampa, then sent down tomorrow.
