A Minute With: Robert Duvall on Westerns and avoiding stereotypes

Quote:
With a career spanning seven decades, actor Robert Duvall has played roles ranging from Joseph Stalin to Dwight D. Eisenhower, and he still looks for ways to diversify his choices.

Duvall, 82, will next be seen as a stoic war veteran patriarch in "Jayne Mansfield's Car," written and directed by and starring Billy Bob Thornton, which will be released in U.S. theaters on Friday.

The film, a drama set in 1960s Alabama, explores the cultural impact of a British family in a small Southern town. Duvall spoke to Reuters about his love of working in Westerns, how Hollywood has evolved and his dream role.

I hope it's good. The Western genre is in a pretty weak state these days. Although I guess with the 3:10 to Yuma and True Grit remakes and Django Unchained, it's slowly getting back to something respectable.

Nah, this guy. Well respected French character actor Jean Rochefort:

I'm not sure but I think he might have been one of the actor's Gilliam considered a decade ago. Sure looks the part and he is a superb actor.

Not familiar with the actor, but like you say, he sure does look the part.

To tell you the truth, I think I'd be content with any big-screen adaptation of Don Quixote done by a quality director with a quality lead. Then again, we don't want a "Heston in Touch of Evil" situation, haha.

....which is, of course, the only Heston performance in history that I really enjoyed. What a Mexican!
