Iginla + for Semin +

I didn't see this anywhere else, so I apologize if I missed it. Mods, you can throw this in the Iginla thread if you feel that's where it should go.

Eklund speculates a Semin, Holtby, 2nd for Iginla, Butler, prospect move.

No, no, no...Holtby is our next Kolzig. Switch him with Neuvirth and we may have deal. Although Semin, Neuvirth, and COL (BOS)'s 2nd is worth at most Iginla and a prospect.

Here's a question....is there a worse way to send off Jarome Iginla?

If the Flames are trading Iginla you would think they would want a younger player then Semin coming back as the center piece. Also Semin is an UFA after the season. It would be a bad trade for the Flames to make.

Fine, Perreault, Semin, 2nd (COL/BOS), and Neuvirth for Iginla.

Semin+Perreault have great chemistry, you get a draft pick, and one of the best, if not the best, backup goalies in the league. This seems too much.

If that's all Calgary could get for Iginla then they would surely keep him. Same goes for Eklund's pile of ****, obviously.

You know... people who know Eklund's reputation might actually respect him a bit if he made some realistic proposals.

1: Semin is UFA next year
2: Calgary fans have voiced before that they don't need a Semin type player
3: Why is Calgary adding?

Trash. Semin is trash. And for Ignila? The complete opposite players. Yeah, no way the Flames would do this.

IF Calgary got Holtby then flipped Kipper to say TB for a nice haul it would make sense

Semin doesnt really make much sense as a UFA though and well its Semin..............Iginla in WSH would be scarry

Have you followed Holtby in the minors at all this year? He's been terrible. I'm pretty sure he only made it back up to a .900 this weekend. He's still a few years away from being NHL caliber.

As for the trade, I don't think either club wants this. Flames don't think it's fair value, and Caps don't want an aging Iginla who's going to screw up their efforts to resign Carlson and Green. This is just typical Eklund ********.

If this happens, 10 bucks says Semin gets flipped at the deadline.

Makes no sense for CGY unless Carlson and/or Alzner is involved

No he wouldn't, he would struggle to score just like the rest of the team.

Semin has less value then Iginla, why would we bothering to trade down for less and then flip it at the deadline.

Unless there are major pieces coming with Semin in terms of a first round pick and either a good young roster player or higher end prospect there's no chance that the Flames are trading Iginla.

Bull-****in'-****. You wanna say Semin's trash? Then prove it, don't just act like it's a fact. 40 goal scorers are not trash. Semin's hasn't been producing lately because he's got Perrault and Johansson as his centers, neither of whom are half way decent playmakers at this point in their careers. The vast majority of calls he gets now are pure reputation calls, to the point that even the Caps announcers have been calling for the Caps to complain to the league about it. He also plays pretty good defense. Bruce stopped using him on the PK, but two years ago when he did get regular PK time, the team scored more SHGs than they allowed PPGs when he was on the ice. When he's not being handicapped by biased refs, he's actually a very capable two way player. If you watched him, you'd know this. But you don't, so you take your anti-Russian bias and what you hear in the media and smear him with no actual evidence. Seriously, I challenge you to refute any of this.

Eklund fresh off the pot.

Semin is only signed for 1 more year, isn't it? Wouldn't Calgary want someone they can control for more than this season for Iginla?

Why would Calgary want Holtby when we have Irving waiting in the wings.

The young center point of any deal involving Iginla can't be a goalie, it makes no sense.

If you're trading Kipper one of the key pieces of that deal would be a goalie.
